Do you have a ‘really interesting’ life story?

Friday-weekend blog

Some years ago, I was in touch with a news service (SWNS) about one of my books. Since then I get occasional messages from SWNS asking for ‘interesting’ stories from people with ‘interesting’ lives. Here’s an extract from the latest SWNS email. I’m blogging about this as it shows the utterly trivial drivel it seems many newspapers and magazines feel is of interest to their readers. If any of these apply to you, you could sell your ‘interesting’ story to SWNS:

(apologies about some text being unreadable. WordPress have just ‘upgraded’ their system. Like most IT upgrades, the newer version is much more complicatedthan the previous one, so I’m still trying to work out how to use it)

Right now at Talk To The Presswe are searching for stories the international andnational newspapers would be interested in paying for. These stories are centred around current headlines and themes so if your story sounds like one of the ones listed below, get in touch with us today and YOU could get paid for sharing your experience.

This week, we’re searching for:

‘I won’t babysit my grandkids unless I’m being paid’

Do you refuse to babysit your grandkids unless you’re paid for it? Maybe you feel you should be paid as a babysitter would be and don’t think there should be an exception just because you are family? Get in touch if you charge your family if they want you to babysit.

‘I’m addicted to dating apps’

Are you addicted to dating apps? Do you spend hours a day swiping and messagingpotential matches? Maybe you change plans to prioritise time on dating apps? Do you find yourself scrolling into the early hours of the morning? Maybe you go on loads of dates each week – desperate to find someone? We want to hear from you if you feel you’re addicted to dating apps.

‘I shower in front of my kids -I dont care if they seeme naked’

Do you shower in front of your kids and not care if they see you naked? Is it more efficient to have them in the bathroom where you can keep an eye on them while you quickly wash? Maybe you all shower at the same time? Perhaps you still do it in front of some of your older children?Get in touch if you happily shower in front of your children.

‘I’m too hot – people are intimidated by me and I’ve lost out on jobs because of my looks’

Do you feel people are intimidated by your good looks? How does it impact you? Has it meant you’ve lost out onjobs? Lost friends? Or even struggled dating? If this sounds like you – get in touch.
If any of these apply to you, get in touch using the Online Form linked below.

If you have a story about something else, we still want to hear from you! Every day we fill the pages of magazines and newspapers, and you could be part of that. If you’ve had a wedding disaster, surgery shocker or have interesting stories about your relationship, health or unusual job, get in touch today.

The swamp of triviality and narcissism into to which Western society is sinking at an escalating rate is deplorable, half a century ago would have been considered unbelievable, all aided and abetted by the junk emitted 24/7 from the gigantic screen which now replaces the fireplace as the focal point of the typical living room. “We” get what we deserve, reap what we have sown – except that many of us never asked for or wanted what we are now getting. Say what you like about the World’s most peaceful religion – and I, believe me, have said it all in terms which cannot be repeated here – its adherents do appear in certain respects to have higher standards of conduct with regard to family and societal values (within their own parallel society that is and discounting the subjugation of women) than do many members of indigenous European populations. And of course, while the female members of the latter group are “too busy” to have children and see raising them, if they do have them, as an unacceptable chore best abnegated to child minders or nurseries, the females of the former are very busy populating the UK and the rest of Europe with children who are being raised to despise what they see as Western depravity and, together with the children they will themselves have, will by the end of this Century, have imposed their own beliefs and standards on the entire UK population and probably the rest of Europe as well. (The USA is concurrently going to Hell in its own unique way too.) So fast forward 50 or 60 years and what we deplore now will either have been forgotten completely or will have been consigned to history and recalled as an example of what not to do if you wish your culture to thrive, just as we look back and contemplate the errors of the last days of the Ancient Greeks and the Roman Empire. I shall be long gone but I fear for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will have to live with what “we” have allowed to happen. I hold successive Governments of both Colours responsible for the way in which they have reduced education, health, Law and Order, Conduct in Public affairs, to the lowest common denominator. I am no puritan, but the flagrant dishonesty and sheer vulgarity displayed daily not only by many members of the general public, but also by those who purport to govern us, would have been regarded as unacceptable around the time of the end of WW2.

An excellent summation, Thank you very much.

This appears to be merely the News Service version of ‘Reality TV’ which I gather from friends constitutes about 70% of the programming nowadays.

I must admit I have no current personal experience, as I binned my TV six years ago and got a refund on my licence.

My ‘Life story’ would not interest them, as I don’t watch TV, read actual books, eat sensibly, enjoy nature, listen to Radio 3, etc.
Should I offer them my insights? No, f-them!
