Hype, hype, hooray! I guess that’s what the founding shareholders of Facebook and their investment bankers will be shouting as they crack open the champagne after unloading their largely worthless shares on all the usual suckers who think they’re going to make money by jumping on the latest bandwagon just as the bubble’s about to burst (sorry about the mixed metaphors). At the IPO valuation, Facebook is supposedly worth about $104bn! Ha, ha, ha and Santa Claus is my uncle. Well, certainly he’s Mark Zuckerberg’s uncle, as Zuckerberg will pocket about $19bn. If you translated Zuckerberg’s name into English, I guess you’d get “sugar mountain”. But more accurate would be “mountain of suckers”. Because that’s what he and his investment bankers are making of the fools stupid enough to buy Facebook shares. The average IPO is usually heavily hyped, overpriced and extremely disappointing. The average share sold in an IPO underperforms the market by over 20%. As for Facebook – most shares trade at a P/E (Price/Earnings) ratio of about 13 in the UK and 15 in the US. Facebook’s shares are on a P/E ratio of about 100. Basically, compared to its share price, the company hardly makes any money. It may have hundreds of millions of self-obsessed, celebrity-fixated users, but it doesn’t know how to transform these into hard cash earnings. I predict that within a year, Mr Sugar Mountain’s shares will have lost at least a third, and more probably half, of their value. Many companies do IPOs when they know that their shares are at the absolute top end of their valuations and can only go down. But, while the zuckers scratch their heads and wonder why their money has gone up in smoke, Mr Zuckerberg and his mates will be laughing all the way to their many many banks.

So please, please don’t get caught up in the media-generated hysteria, don’t buy Mr Zuckerberg’s crap shares and don’t get ‘zuckered’ by the master of ‘zuckering’ Mr Zuckerberg. If you want to throw your money away, give some to me. I need it because I’ve been blacklisted from working as a consultant since I started writing my books. As for Mr Zuckerberg, he doesn’t need your money quite as much as I do.

As the politically-correct BBC gushes about Britain’s “Olympics triumph” and multimillionaire olympocrats become ever richer wasting our money, it’s worth remembering that we were once promised the Olympics would only cost us around £2.4bn. Mysteriously, as the BBC and Olympics bosses tell us that they are “on budget”, the cost has actually rocketed up to around £10bn. That’s about enough to pay the salaries of around 30,000 police officers or nurses for 10 years. As other countries have to cut public spending, the rest of the world is laughing at us for being stupid enough to waste so much money on so little while hugely enriching a few Olympics insiders. Here’s a spoof ad for the Olympics I saw recently when I was in Australia. Enjoy and send the link to your contacts if you think they might be interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_G34SK3dkc

As flame-haired beauty Rebekah Brooks angrily declares she is innocent, it’s time for me to speak out too and tell it like it is: David Cameron is a highly respected PM. Eric Pickles suffers from anorexia. You can trust a British surveyor. Our MPs are hard-working, honest and only interested in serving their constituents. You can cut your way to economic growth. Gordon Brown was one of our greatest chancellors. Mervyn king is not an incompetent, overpaid, over-pensioned, self-serving buffoon. The Afghan war is worth fighting. President Karzai is not corrupt. Nicholas Sarkozy is tall. The House of Lords is full of honourable people who would never dream of fiddling their expenses till the day they die. Gordon Brown doubled the NHS budget and all the extra money was well spent. Anthony Blair’s Iraq war dossier was not dodgy. Jose Manuel Barroso is not a pointless, greedy, corrupt Portuguese clown. Ed Miliband is not Mark Serwotka’s whore. George Osborne will lead Britain on the road to economic recovery. The BBC is not biased. We really need 646 MPs. Greece is not bankrupt. Spain is not bankrupt, Italy is not bankrupt. Portugal is not bankrupt. It’s worth saving into a pension fund. HSBC give good customer service. Fred Goodwin has never committed any offence such as misleading shareholders or fraud. The Tories are going to win the next election.

I choked over my cornflakes the other day when I heard that several MPs had said we must all “work harder” to get Britain out of the economic mess caused by our MPs’ incompetence and profligacy with our money. Do any of our MPs actually know what it’s like to work? They get an incredible 90+ days a year holiday - rather more than you or I. Of course, our lazy thieving MPs claim they work hard representing their constitutents. But if they’re so busy, how come many of them have lucrative second and third jobs? David Miliband, for example, was reported as having earned about £450,000 above his MP’s salary last year. So he can’t have been too busy slaving away for those stupid enough to vote for him. Gordon Brown probably pocketed about £100,000 or more last year from his extra-curricular activities. And one of the MPs who told us to work harder was none other than ‘part-time’ foreign minister William Hague – a man so dedicated to working for his constituents that since becoming an MP he has had time to write a 688-page biography of William Pitt and a 480-page biography of William Wilberforce in addition to giving huge numbers of well-paid after-dinner speeches. And when they’re at Westminster, many MPs’ work consists of long leisurely lunches in the best restaurants (paid for by us), long leisurely dinners in the best restaurants (paid for by us) plus considerable time spent in the heavily subsidised Commons bars. Just look at the enormous bag of self-importance Eric Pickles to see where a lot of our money has gone.

With somewhere between 60% to 80% of our laws coming from Brussels, we don’t need 646 greedy, thieving, idle MPs any more. Just 200 or at most 300 would be quite enough. After all, anything to do with agriculture, fishing, trade, immigration and much more is now decided by unelected eurocrats. So perhaps our lazy, lying, hypocritical, incompetent, arrogant, thieving, useless MPs should refrain from telling the rest of us to “work harder”.

Can our incompetent lying PM David Liar Cameron do nothing right? Blunder after blunder after blunder. But perhaps his worst mistake was setting up the Leveson inquiry. I rather suspect Cameron sat down with his useless, highly-paid, sycophantic advisers and they all decided that setting up an inquiry into relations between the press and politicians would be a jolly good idea as it would put press attention on the love-in between the Murdochs and Blair/Brown’s New Labour. Like most of our PM’s idiotic ideas, this one backfired spectacularly. Rather than exposing the Murdoch-Blair/Brown subversion of democracy, the Leveson inquiry has turned Liar Cameron into a figure of ridicule (LOL). And, once a PM becomes a figure of ridicule and derision, he or she can’t win elections. It doesn’t matter what Cameron says and does over the next few years, most of us view him with contempt – that’s why Labour will win in 2015. The only way the Tories can change this inevitability is to have the courage to dump Cameron and Osborne ASAP and replace them by figures who can earn the public’s respect – but is there anyone in the Tory party capable of this? I doubt it.

By the way, on a totally different subject, the group of men responsible for the grooming and repeated rapes of young white girls in the Rochdale area were Muslims. The politically-correct BBC and most of the press refer to them as “Asian men”. But Chinese are Asian, Koreans are Asian, Thais are Asian, Malaysians are Asian, Indian Hindus are Asian, Sikhs are Asian and none of them go in for grooming and raping young white girls. Yet our cowardly press are terrified of telling us that all the men involved were Muslims, so they hide behind calling the men “Asian” – pathetic.

And if you are either selling or buying a home, my experience is that one bunch you should be very careful with is the Countrywide Group. Countrywide claim to be “The UK’s largest and most successful estate agency and property services Group” and they seem to be based in the Cayman Islands – I wonder why. They own 47 estate agency chains including: Austin & Wyatt, Faron Sutaria, Palmer Snell, Hamptons, John D Wood and many more. They will offer you all kinds of services like conveyancing, surveys, mortgage advice and much more. I’m not suggesting for a moment that Countrywide would ever use any of the estate agents’ tricks I mention in my article. But in my limited experience, they do seem (I’ll put this politely) rather focused on “getting the sale” and cross-selling (making sure you buy their other services). For legal reasons, I will say no more.

After the flop of the Queen’s Speech yesterday, it has become more than clear that our lying PM David Liar Cameron doesn’t “get it” at all. He doesn’t “get” that most of the country, especially Tory voters, despise him. We despise him because he has betrayed our trust. After the worst PM in British history, liar Gordon Liar Brown, Cameron had a unique chance to change Britain for the better. But all he did was put his cronies into the House of Lords, grovel to the bankers, make it easier for MPs and lords to carry on fiddling their expenses and protect overpaid underperforming civil service bosses. Meanwhile his government allowed the water, gas and electricity companies to plunder ordinary British people while overpaid useless regulators sit on their hands; allowed the banks to get away with selling £50bn a year of utter garbage (structured products) to us; allowed hundreds of British troops to be killed and maimed in a pointless unwinnable war to force a drug-dealing corrupt government onto Afghanistan; allowed uncontrolled immigration especially from our enemy Pakistan; allowed hugely wasteful Whitehall departments and worthless quangos (e.g. the £70m a year Equality and Human Rights Commission) to squander vast amounts of our money; allowed the EU bureaucrats to use every weasel-worded trick they can come up with to increase their power over us; thrown tens of billions of our money into the bottomless pit of the eurozone crisis; handed over billions in supposed foreign aid to Third World thieves and kleptocrats; been responsible for the aptly-named omnishambles; let his lying chancellor Osborne create havoc with his budget and so on and so forth.

Most people now see Cameron as a spineless, lying, incompetent, shallow, selfish, out-of-touch, PR spiv who should never have become PM. Cameron has become the Prince Charles of British politics – a complete and utter self-absorbed waste of skin. The sooner Cameron resigns and hands over power to someone with some principles, ideas and backbone, the better. Problem is – there probably isn’t anyone in the Tory party with sufficient talent, courage and intelligence to become PM. What a disaster for Britain.

If you’re buying a home, hopefully you’ll commission a survey. But remember, your surveyor will probably work with you only once in his or her life, but your surveyor will work with local estate agents hundreds of times every year. So, it’s important for surveyors to keep in with local estate agents. Any surveyor who gets a reputation for being too harshly honest about properties estate agents are keen to sell, will find himself or herself with worryingly little work. This means few surveyors will openly condemn a property as being a disaster. Because of this, some surveyors will be so self-serving that they will deliberately not mention problems with a property you are thinking of buying. Those who are more honest will tend to tread a safe course, mentioning all possible faults (so you don’t sue them) but reporting on them using fairly bland language. This may lead you to underestimate the seriousness of problems.

I have experienced both types of surveyor. When I bought my first UK home, the surveyor deliberately and knowingly omitted to mention some faults. When I threatened to sue him, he quickly handed over £2,500. With my second home purchase, I realised British surveyors cannot be trusted to work in the interests of their clients, so I accompanied the surveyor on the survey. When I pushed him, he admitted that three faults we found were quite serious, yet in his report these faults were rated as minor (presumably so as not to upset the large estate agency selling the property).

So please, if you or anybody you know is buying a home – do NOT trust your surveyor, always always accompany your surveyor on the survey and always ask hard questions about any aspect of the property that worries you. British surveyors are mostly untrustworthy and you have to protect yourself against their self-serving pandering to the interests of the estate agents who provide much of their work.
