Do we need a new Cromwell to dissolve our Parliament of Whores?

Hopefully you all know the speech given by Oliver Cromwell on 20 April 1653 when he dissolved Parliament:

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.
Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter’d your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?
Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil’d this sacred place, and turn’d the Lord’s temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress’d, are yourselves gone!
So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go!

It’s difficult to find anything in this 360-year-old speech that is not as relevant today as its was when first made.

What seems to happen in Britain is that after each cataclysmic war, we get MPs who either because of genuine morality or to preserve their own power actually enact legislation that benefits ordinary people. After the First World War,unemployment benefitwas introduced. And after the Second World War, the NHS was set up. But as memories of war fade, a new generation of politicians take over. These new politicians are only interested in using Parliament as a means of enriching themselves and furthering their own lousy careers. To hell with the stupid people who voted for them.

Although I have spent the last 8 years writing books in defence of freedom and democracy and fairness, I believe our current MPs are so greedy, arrogant, self-serving, corrupted and incompetent that I wouldn’t be overly upset if a new Cromwell rose up and dissolved our Parliament of Whores.

Perhaps Britain’s generals, instead of looking for well-paid jobs working for arms companies could realise that our country is being sold out to the corrupt, wasteful, undemocratic EU. Perhaps they could dissolve Parliament, indict our political leaders for treason and pass some laws that benefited Britain – unilaterally withdraw from the EU, impose proper border controls, give no benefits to immigrants till they have worked for 10 years, throw out all illegal and unemployed immigrants, set a maximum public-sector salary of 89,000, set a maximum public-sector pension of 30,000 (if bureaucrats want more then they can save in overcharging underperforming pension funds like the rest of us), get rid of a couple of hundred pointless quangos, declare all power, water and airport companies “strategic national assets” that can only be owned by companies based fully for tax purposes in the UK, start prosecuting a few hundred of our corrupt banksters, deny any benefits or any social housing to anyone under 25 (let their parents look after and house them), abolish child credits while pushing up the rate for paying income tax to 12,000 (Britain is overcrowded – if people want children let them pay for them themselves)and other such measures to change Britain’s benefits culture. And they could organise new elections with just 200 seats in the Commons and 100 in the Lords.

Of course, this will never happen. But a military coup wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen to our country. Handing over total control to the horrific socialist paradise of the EU would be worse.

We don’t have a new Cromwell – that’s why we all have to vote for UKIP.

In your article you have praised my hero, Oliver Cromwell, a great Englishman.
Your article also puts forward some good ideas to erradicate many of our problems.
Now, if you would solve the problem of our National Debt, I will nominate you
as President of our new Republic once we have dispensed with the parasite
Royal Family, and I do like the Queen.

Well said David, reminds me of an old anecdote.
Losing MP in a general election steps up to microphone, congratulates opponent and shouts, ‘the people have spoken’, walking off stage with aid, quietly adds, ‘the bastards’

If Cromwell’s horse had no religion, these modern parliamentary whores have even less. Their god is their belly.

Sign me up for the revolution.

Forgot to ask, where’s the match ?

Lets say the Queen came to Parliament to dissolve it. Would you rather see her do it from the throne in the House of Lords, or would you like to see her bust into the House of Commons herself and tell the MPs to GTFO?
