As ‘snowmageddon’ once again hits the UK closing schools, blocking roads, disrupting airports and causing general chaos, it’s once again that time of year to remember the great prediction made by the climate-catastrophist Independent newspaper in 2000:
In the Independent article, a Dr David Viner senior research scientist at the Climatic Research Unit at the ‘world famous’ University of East Anglia is quoted as saying within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event” and that “children just aren’t going to know what snow is”.
In my blog of 14 December 2022, I listed the disruption and chaos caused by snow in the UK every single year since the Independent made its bold prediction:
So I won’t bore you by repeating them all here.
Thankfully the Independent, which was only read by social workers, teachers and BBC employees is no longer with us. The Independent was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the Indy, it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition.
But unfortunately, the climate expert quoted by the now largely-defunct Independent, still seems to be very active. According to his LinkedIn profile: David Viner has “over 30 years experience working globally in all aspects of climate change, resilience and sustainability.
Currently a Co-ordinating Lead Author for the IPCC and been involved with the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) since 1992. Lead Author on the IPCC’s Special Report on Climate Change and Land. TCFD and TNFD experience, I understand the benefits of these task forces to help mobilise the corporate sector to help deliver on the key global climate and biodiversity metrics.
His specialities are: “All aspects of the Climate Change and Development, working at the highest international level in global roles since 1991”
So it would appear to an ignoramus like myself that Mr David ‘no snow’ Viner is one of the people writing the IPCC reports on which our useless government is basing its Net Zero crusade which will destroy jobs, wreck our economy and impoverish all but the globe-trotting, jet-setting, climate-conference attending, preachy political, media and climate elites.
A history of absurd predictions
But the Independent has a bit of a history of making ludicrous climate porn predictions. Here’s what the Indy warned in May 2004:
The gentleman quoted, Sir David King is an even more distinguished scientist than David ‘no snow’ Viner. King is a former government chief scientist and the person who set up the so-called ‘Independent Sage’ which kept demanding more, faster and heavier lockdowns. Now, apparently this eminent scientist is recommending Antarctica as the best place to buy real estate over the next century.
And given that global CO2 emissions keep rising:
It seems that by the end of this century – in just 77 years, we’re all doomed,
Unless, of course, you’re lucky enough to live in the hospitably warm Antarctica where the current temperature, due to the wind, is appraised at a life-threatening -30°C.

Unfortunately, because the general public are not allowed to hear alternative voices and given the sorry state of education in this country are disinclined to search out alternative views.
Add to that the shear violence meted out to those who dare to raise their heads above the government-approved parapet, it’s unsurprising.
It is, however, interesting that the Wuhan lab-leak is now gaining credence despite those of us who had suspicions from the beginning were dismissed as right-wing conspiracy theorists!!
It is obvious that the Government and its handlers have self-serving agendas and will have no truck with anything, especially the truth, that may spoil their ambitions. If WHO have their way, global laws will be implemented to prevent people from speaking such annoying truths.
It’s almost like being taken back to the time of Roman soothsayers who used animal entrails to reveal the messages sent from the gods to reveal the future. Computer models have replaced the entrails to be interpreted by mad scientists.
Did you watch Laurence Fox discussing climate with a meteorologist, Jim Dale, on GB News last night (Friday)? It was another fact free discussion, confirming that nothing will change until we are facing disaster and it will be too late to do anything. Fox at one point asked if Greta was educating people suggesting she couldn’t because she was an autistic, 18 year old. Dale correctly pointed out that neither disqualified her. It is her lack of knowledge that disqualifies her, as it does them.
Dale trotted out the carbon dioxide acting as a blanket to keep the earth warm theory , also having no idea about physics. Air has good insulation properties but unfortunately it moves, which is why it was replaced In cavity walls by solid insulating materials. But it does not increase temperatures, it reduces the rate of heat loss. There has been endless incorrect debate in the past about how blankets supposedly increasing our body temperature.
There are endless adverts about Octopus energy and their Which? recommendations. I looked it up and the first clue to why it is not a good company is a strong recommendation from Al Gore. It cannot provide reliable Green energy without reliance on fossil fuel and nuclear on the grid system. Which? also hasn’t a clue about what makes a reliable energy supplier. Another warning sign of what we are going blindly towards.
The house of cards is beginning to crumble.An awful lot of people actually waking up to the realities of net zero.Articles highlighting the impossibility of fueling a developed economy on so called green renewables are actually appearing in the press.Electric cars are also being questioned.People are waking up to the realities of 15 min cities and the authoritarian nature of Governments be they global,national or local.The key will be the coĺlapse of fiat currencies,particularly if they havnt got their digital currency scam organised.Is it starting? Bit of a panic today I see.
