As this year’s monsoon season starts, somepolitically correctBBC reporterhas beenbleating and moaning about the fact that hundreds of thousands of Pakistani families are still homeless a year after last year’s devastating monsoon floods. Of course this is a tragedy. But it’s also a crime. What the BBC fool didn’t mention was the mysterious disappearance of the hundreds of millions of dollars in aid which was sent to Pakistan after the floods. And what happened tothe hundreds of millions we sent after the Pakistan earthquake the year before? This money too seems to have vanished.
Pakistan has repeatedly been shown to be one of the most corrupt countries in the world by Transparency International. UN studies indicate that around 90% of all aid sent to Pakistan is stolen by corrupt politicians, bureaucrats and businessmen. When the aid agencies come round this year yet again with their begging bowls, just remember – all we are doing is making rich people in the Third World richer.
