David Craig, on February 23rd, 2011It seems that the departing boss of Amnesty has just been given £500,000 of donors’ money and her deputy got a cool £300,000. Amnesty’s supporters probably thought their hard-earned money was being used to help protect political prisoners not provide luxury lifestyles for Amnesty chiefs. But sadly Amnest seems to have forgotten its purpose. It has now just become a huge, overpaid, snouts-in-the-trough bureaucracy whose prime interest is in looking after the well-being of its staff.
Although Amnesty is always quick to condemn Israel for everything under the sun, Amnesty seems to be remarkably quiet as Mad Dog Gaddafi sets fighter jets and helicopter gunships on unarmed opponents of his distatorship. But then Amnesty has always been profoundly anti-semitic and very careful never to criticise the appalling atrocities occuring in places like Syria, Libya, Iran and other arab countries.
