What’s the point of Tobias Elwood?

You might wonder who Tobias Elwood is. Well he’s the Tory MP for a part of Bournemouth, Britain’s centre of senility. Tobias seems to be a sort of ex-military ‘Tim Dim but Nice’. Tobias has been getting a bit hot under the collar about British Summer Time (BST). I’m not sure if he’s for it or against it, but the issue certainly seems to be exercising Tobias’ mighty brain.

Meanwhile Britain is going bankrupt, young people can no longer afford to study, taxes are going up, public services are being wrecked etc etc. Yet Tobias is worried about BST. Of course, with his MP’s salary, his more than generous expenses and his huge inflation-protected pension, Tobias can live like a millionaire for the rest of his life at taxpayers’ expense. So he probably hasn’t even noticed the economic catastrophe unfolding all around him. So Tobias worries about BST. What’s the point of Tobias Elwood? None that I can see except for the personal enrichment of Tobias and his family.
