There was an interesting article in The Register about a month ago describing how the now utterly discredited (IMHO) director of BBC News Helen Boaden has been (IMHO) trying to cover up which “eminent scientists” were at a BBC meeting where the BBC decided that there was no need to give balanced airtime to scientists who dared suggest that global warming was not caused by human activity but could instead be due to things like solar activity. A BBC report confirmed
“The BBC has held a high-level seminar with some of the best scientific experts, and has come to the view that the weight of evidence no longer justifies equal space being given to the opponents of the consensus [on anthropogenic climate change]”

Given Ms Boaden’s abject performance over the Jimmy Savile affair, it seems reasonable to doubt anything coming from the pathetically politically-correct BBC News – personally, I find Jeff Randall on Sky News much more interesting than the useless BBC and when I’m abroad, I find Al Jazeera much more reliable than the BBC.
Maybe it’s time to cut the BBC’s hugely inflated budget by 5% a year for the next five years and cut the BBC back down to its original purpose – unbiased public-service broadcasting.
