Murdoch tells it like it isn’t

The News of the World scandal is producing the most extraordinaryexamples of ‘mis-speak’from our leaders (like Liar Cameron)and News International executives as they all scramble to avoid any dirt landing on them. But perhaps the prize forthe most brazen example of ‘mis-speak’ should go to the great man himself ‘Repulsive’ Rupert Murdoch. When asked about his support forRebekah Brooks, Murdoch is quoted by the BBC as saying “I’m not throwing innocent people under the bus.” When he said this, presumably he momentarily forgot about the 200 or so News of the World employees, most of whom were completely innocent of any wrongdoing, who lost their jobs and so were thrown under the bus when kind old Uncle Rupert decided to close the newspaper down.

I think what he really meant was something like ‘I couldn’t give a sheepshearer’s foreskin about the lives and jobs of my employees, but I’ll do anything to protect myself, my money, my top executive and my son’. I hope this clarifies the situation.
