In the three-day period from Aug.13 through Aug.15, 49 people were shot in New York. This was an impressive five times more than the eight who were shot during the same 72 hours last year. And during the latest weekend more than 30 people were shot according to figures just released.
This brings New York City to more than 1,000 total shooting incidents across the city year to date, already double all of last year, and the summer is not even over — a summer which ironically has witnessed a supposed heightened consciousness and awareness of police shootings of black Americans given the ongoing George Floyd and Black Lives Matters protests.
Most of those shot are Blacks and Latinos shot by other Blacks and Latinos:
In one incident, a man in Queens was shot and killed while simply playing in a basketball tournament that was also part of a barbecue at a local park. Interestingly, news reports accompanying the tragic death actually blame lack of police presence for the violence there. Local residents are reportedly angry that police routinely “stay away” — something, it should be noted, that national BLM protests have demanded all along.
Among the dead was a 25-year-old mother of three children. Priscilla Vasquez was described in local reports as shot in the back of the head by an unknown gunman in the early morning hours of Saturday while standing on a sidewalk in front of a public school, just around the corner from her Bronx home.
Underscoring the senseless and often random nature of much of the violence, her friends and family don’t think she was the intended targeted, also given the gunman appeared to fire wildly and haphazardly. Basically, the gunman was just having a bit of fun spraying bullets around as one does when there are no cops around.
As you may know, under pressure from ‘Defund the Police’ activists New York Democrat mayor Bill de Blasio and his Democrat cronies on the city council have cut the New York police budget by $484m and disbanded the NYPD’s plain-clothes anti-gun-crime unit. Although here’s New York congressperson Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:
In her opinion, the budget cuts don’t go far enough: “These proposed ‘cuts’ to the NYPD budget are a disingenuous illusion”, said Ms Ocasio-Cortez in a statement. “This is not a victory.”
In just a few months, by pandering to the Antifa/BLM fascists New York’s Democrat bosses have managed to turn back over 20 years of progress against violent crime in the city. The fragrant Mrs Obama, who tried to connect with viewers by claiming (possibly implausibly?) that she “hated politics”, picked up on the coronavirus theme which was at the core of Democratic attacks on Mr Trump throughout the evening. “More than 150,000 have died and our economy is in shambles because of a virus that this president downplayed for too long,” she said, in a pre-recorded speech carried live again and again and again by most US and UK networks.
But hold on a minute. Maybe Michelle is as forgetful as she is fragrant? Throughout the Chinese Covid-19 plague crisis, the Democrats and their obedient US mainstream media have lambasted everything Trump has done. When Trump imposed a travel ban from China in January (long before other countries) the Democrats and their sycophantic media accused Trump of racism and xenophobia. When the travel ban was extended to Europe and then the UK, there was once again outrage among the Democrats and their media chums.
Moreover, in accusing Trump of “downplaying the virus for too long”fragrant Michelle seems to have totally ‘forgotten’ the tsunami of criticism against Trump from the Democrats. When HHS Secretary Alex Azar declared a Public Health Emergency none other than Trump’s rival for the White House, Joe Biden, called it “Hysterical Xenophobia”and“Fear Mongering”.

And when Trump started to propose social distancing, the mainstream media and Democrats accused him of over-reacting. One of Trump’s fiercest critics, Bill De Blasio, Democrat Mayor of New York (the US city with the highest Chinese plague death rate) seems to have forgotten that he (De Blasio) originally claimed that the Chinese plague was not particularly contagious and was “no worse than a common cold”.
After Trump in January declared a “humanitarian and security crisis” during a primetime Oval Office address, leading Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer said Trump was working to “manufacture a crisis, stoke fear and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration.”

As far as I know (and that’s not very far), Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp owns two main TV stations – Fox (including Fox News) in the USA and Sky (including Sky News) in Australia. Until 2018, News Corp also owned Sky (including Sky News) in the UK but sold out its remaining stake to a company called Comcast.
It may be interesting to compare the editorial positions of Fox News (USA) and Sky (Australia) with the position of Sky News UK.

First just a quick comment some readers might find mildly relevant in today’s woke, fascist, free-speech-hating, social-media-mob times.
I use a US company called Yahoo for my email. I don’t know why I picked Yahoo. I think someone set it up for me years ago.
When one logs into Yahoo to read their email, Yahoo displays a whole load of supposed ”news stories’. But for many years, Yahoo has had a slight problem with its supposed ‘news stories’. As Yahoo is run by woke, progressive, LBGT-loving, BLM-adoring, knee-taking, rapefugee-welcoming, Greta-worshipping, Izlumophiliac, West-hating, Trump-loathing, Democrat-supporting, Silicon-Valley billionaires, Yahoo takes almost all its news stories from what one might call ‘the progressive media’.
This means that the Yahoo website in the UK takes virtually all its stories from the morally-limp-wristed Guardian and the Independent. That’s Yahoo’s choice, of course. The trouble is that well over 90% of people using Yahoo don’t believe a word of the crap written by the Guardian and the Independent. Almost all Yahoo readers admire Trump, don’t believe in the man-made global warming scam, think Greta is an ignorant idiot, don’t want more rapefugees, sometimes question whether the religion of peacefulness really is quite as peaceful as we’re constantly told and understand how much Western civilisation has contributed to humanity. There are even some who believe that all the transgenderism bollox is just a load of bollox. This means that for many years at least 90% of all the readers’ comments on Yahoo directly contradict the views of the articles carefully chosen by Yahoo.
So, what does Yahoo do? It does what all lefty, progressive organisations do – censors any views with which it disagrees. It stops any readers from commenting. Instead of being able to comment, now at the end of each Yahoo (Guardian and Independent) article is this message:

Why would anyone vote for a senile old fool?
In the years before her death, my mother had worsening dementia. Thankfully she could still recognise her children (though not other close relatives) before she went to a better place.

Anyone watching the TV programme yesterday evening about the life of Captain Sir Tom Moore got a glimpse of how great Britain could have been if we hadn’t become a country of whining, self-regarding, victim-status-claiming, bleating, blubbing bed-wetters.
BBC Breakfast can always be relied on to give the latest bunch of yellow-mattress, sobbing bed-wetters hours of undeserved opportunities to bitch and moan about how terribly they have been treated by life and how it’s all either the Government’s and/or white racists’ fault.
The two main groups of emotionally-incontinent, tear-stained moaners on BBC Breakfast this morning seem to have been school/college students and tourists taking holidays in France.

I fail to have sympathy with all the snivelling A Level and BTec students bleating about the results they have been given for at least three reasons:
they have known for months that exams were impossible due to Xi Pingpong’s Chinese Covid-19 plague
the qualification bodies have played safe and awarded many more of the higher grades A*s, As and Bs than are achieved in a normal exam year
faced with a huge loss of income from fewer lucrative foreign students, our money-grabbing universities are desperate to accept anyone and are lowering their already embarrassingly low entry standards.

Just to explain the chart: This shows undergraduate acceptances in 2010 by their UCAS tariff points. To put this into context, UCAS awards 140 points for an A* at A-level, 120 for an A, 100 for a B, 80 for a C, 60 for a D and 40 for an E. These figures show that 51% of university undergraduates enrolled in 2010 with qualifications equivalent to a DDD at A-level or worse (fewer than 180 UCAS points). They also show that, in 2010, 35% of undergraduates enrolled with no tariff points!
Given this, I completely fail to understand what the bleating, blubbing student bed-wetters and their lefty, UK-hating, woke, ever-complaining teachers are weeping and wailing about.
Moreover, when the BBC interviewed critics of the system used this year, they always allowed the interviewees to spout their bile but never asked the interviewees what the qualification bodies should have done.

The other lot who were given the chance to howl and weep and wail this morning were British tourists – especially those on holiday in France – who will now be subject to a 14-day quarantine on returning to the UK.
Again, my well of sympathy is curiously dry:
they knew before going on holiday that quarantines could be imposed at short notice on countries with rapidly rising Chinese kung-flu plague infections
while on holiday they could have seen that the infection rate in France was rising rapidly and that the French Government was imposing new restrictions
WTF were they going on holiday anyway during a worldwide pandemic that has already killed over 500,000 innocents?
I’m no genius. But it is rather clear to me that right now is not really the best time to take a foreign holiday. However, it seems that hundreds of thousands of total dumbasses quite simply couldn’t imagine that there might be problems taking a holiday during the worst pandemic for 100 years. After all, they could always blame the Government for their own stupidity. And if they were lucky, they might even get interviewed on BBC Breakfast about how appallingly they had been treated/betrayed by the Government while obviously accepting no responsibility at all for their own stupidity.

Hopefully most of you will have seen a version of the video below. From what I understand it was taken in Melbourne. Just in case there are any A Level student bed-wetters reading this, Melbourne is in a country called Australia which is on the other side of the world. As most of today’s geography students probably don’t know Australia is very far away.
Apparently, the rather draconian new restrictions imposed on Melbournians due to Xi Pingpong’s kung-flu include having to wear a face-nappy whenever someone leaves their home. This is a pretty ludicrous imposition as it’s almost impossible to catch the kung-flu outdoors.
Anyway, it seems a young lady was stopped by the Australian police for not wearing a face-nappy. Unfortunately, rather than explaining that she had valid medical reasons for not wearing one, she decided to give the finger to the policeman and then kick a policewoman in the stomach. This is not the recommended way to act when stopped by the police. Do not try this at home!
But while the young lady’s response to being stopped by the police may not have been the best, what is truly shocking is the way the cop grabbed her by the throat.
Had the lady been an Aborigine or some other person of colour, there would have been riots and looting by the usual fascist BLM brigade. But as she was white, well…………
Yesterday I briefly congratulated the fascist scum pretending to be BLM (Black Lives Matter) protestors for scoring a spectacular own goal when they apparently managed to force one of the USA’s highest-ranking and most inspirational African-American police chiefs, Carmen Best, to resign after 28 years in the Seattle Police Department:
Now the fascist scum pretending to be BLM supporters seem to be trying to play the same trick – pretending to be angry about supposed racial injustice, they’ve started rioting and looting for justice in Chicago.
On Monday night, looters claiming to be protesting about the police shooting one of the usual violent, dangerous African American criminals descended on Chicago’s ‘Magnificent Mile’ – an upmarket shopping area.
Protestors/looters were caught on camera shoving shopping bags full of stolen goods and equipment into their cars. Some ATM machines were also damaged and broken into, along with cash registers that were stolen. At least one bank had also been broken into.
Videos of the vandalism showed huge crowds of people smashing their way into businesses and streaming out of the broken windows and doors with clothes and other merchandise. They loaded up vehicles, some moving slowly and deliberately, apparently not worried about being caught by police or being recorded by scores of cellphone cameras:
Vehicles drove away slowly, some leaving behind boxes of rocks that they had apparently brought to shatter the windows. Stores miles from downtown were also ransacked, their parking lots littered with glass and boxes that once contained television sets and other electronics.
When they weren’t filling up their cars with loads of looted stuff, the supposed protestors screamed abuse at Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and demanded the Chicago Police Department (CPD) be defunded:

A great victory for Seattle’s BLM rioters?

Well, the good news is that the protestors/rioters seem to have won. This Monday the (mainly white, democrat-supporting) Seattle City Council took votes to rebalance Seattle’s battered 2020 budget and start reducing the size and scope of the Police Department. It also promised to make more dramatic changes to public safety services next year.
Budget amendments passed by the council are intended to shrink the force by up to 100 officers through layoffs and attrition this year; dismantle a team that removes some homeless encampments; and cut the wages of Police Department command staff between September and December, among other actions
Hooray for the protestors/rioters! Hooray for BLM’s courageous fight against Seattle’s supposedly ghastly, waaccisst, police!

There’s only one small problem with the (mainly white?) BLM rioters’ great victory against the supposedly waaccisst Seattle police. The boss of Seattle police is not only an African American, she’s also a woman – Carmen Best:
From what I understand, Carmen Best has spent 28 years in the Seattle Police Department during which time she worked her way up from being an ordinary cop to being in charge of the Department. And now (from what I understand) faced with the hostility from Seattle’s mainly white city council and mainly white BLM rioters, Carmen Best has resigned.
Carmen Best was one of America’s most respected and capable African American law enforcement officers. She was also an inspiration to other African Americans by showing that with hard work and talent there were no limits to what African Americans could achieve. But now, thanks to the mainly white BLM rioters and mainly white Seattle City Council, Carmen Best will soon be gone.
Well done you (mostly white) virtue-signalling, West-hating, free-speech-loathing, self-regarding BLM idiots. Well done! You’ve managed to chase out one of America’s leading black police officers.

At least this seems to be the standard narrative propagated by most of our 20/20-hindsight journalists and believed by most people.
But maybe this is because we all have rather short memories?
But did the ‘experts’ get it wrong?
I have been trawling back through what really happened at the start of Xi Pingpong’s Chinese plague and came across this from a blog I wrote on 19 March 2020:
The four nations public health group (including the now infamous and ludicrously-misnamed Public Health England) made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID (High Consequence Infectious Disease). On its government website on 19 March 2020, Public Health England (PHE) announced that COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a High Consequence Infectious Disease (HCID) in the UK.

In the UK, a HCID is defined according to the following criteria:
acute infectious disease
typically has a high case-fatality rate
may not have effective prophylaxis or treatment
often difficult to recognise and detect rapidly
ability to spread in the community and within healthcare settings
requires an enhanced individual, population and system response to ensure it is managed effectively, efficiently and safely
The government is constantly being lambasted for shutting down the economy too late. Yet just one week before the government did implement the lockdown on 26 March 2020, its advisors from the useless PHE downgraded the seriousness of Xi Pingpong’s Chinese Covid-19 plague.
As far as I’m aware, none of the mainstream media have thought to mention this. Why not? Because it doesn’t fit into their “the government is run by a floppy-haired clown and is to blame for everything” narrative? The last thing the media wants is some positive stories about the government’s Covid-19 response.
If the ‘experts’ were correct in downgrading Xi’s Chinese plague, this asks the question whether a better strategy would have been to isolate all those over 65 and all those who had comorbidities making them vulnerable to the Chinese plague, but to have let the rest of the economy continue as normal allowing infections to build herd immunity? However, with the media – particularly the UK-hating BBC, UK-loathing C4 News and (IMHO) shouty idiots like Beth Rigby from Sky News and Piers Moron from GMB – screaming for action, I can understand why the government felt pushed into drastic action – crashing the economy – which may lead to the cure being worse than the disease.
From this it’s clear that between 19 March and 26 March the government was caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Some of its ‘experts’ (PHE) were claiming one thing – relax, things aren’t too serious – while Professor Penis from Imperial College and a hyperventilating media were demanding the opposite – shut the economy or we’re all going to die!

As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious disease (HCID) in the UK.
The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to increase.
The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.
Cases of COVID-19 are no longer managed by HCID treatment centres only. All healthcare workers managing possible and confirmed cases should follow the updated national infection and prevention (IPC) guidance for COVID-19, which supersedes all previous IPC guidance for COVID-19. This guidance includes instructions about different personal protective equipment (PPE) ensembles that are appropriate for different clinical scenarios.
Oooops, we all seem to have forgotten that!
You’ll also see that, in addition to downgrading Xi Pingpong’s Chinese plague from being classified as a HCID, PHE also recommended that Covid-19 sufferers should be treated in general hospitals rather than in specialist HCID treatment centres. This led to the disastrous panicked policy of sending over 15,000 elderly patients into care homes without testing them for Covid-19 to free up hospital beds because the NHS didn’t want to see a situation like Italy or Spain where dying patients were left lying in hospital corridors.
I’m not defending the government’s response
I’m not trying to defend the government’s confused and contradictory response to the plague that Xi Pingpong unleashed on the world in order to increase China’s power. But I do worry that the reporting from our headline-seeking, intellectually-challenged, often woke media has been simplistic and has a remarkable tendency to ignore any facts it finds which don’t fit its “politicians are all idiots and we journalists are always much smarter” narrative.
