By David Craig, on November 10th, 2010 As Remembrance Sunday approaches, perhaps we should remember a few things about the Afghanistan conflict such as: it’s a pointless war: we are the invaders hated by the majority of Afghans: the people attacking our troops are freedom-fighters trying to liberate their country: we are supporting a corrupt puppet government that is siphoning off our money to build its own property and business empire in Dubai: as soon as our troops leave the rotten Karzai and his partners in crime will scarper and live in luxury for the rest of their lives: our leaders claim we are winning – this is a lie – we are losing: our enemies can outlast us so eventually we will have to withdraw having achieved nothing: our troops are dying and getting injured for nothing: our leaders are too selfish and too cowardly to put an end to this pointless waste of money and human lives.
There’s a lot to remember as we approach Remembrance Sunday.
By David Craig, on November 9th, 2010 Our hopeless leaders are planning cutting 490,000 public sector jobs. What idiots – for two reasons. Firstly, because redundancy, early retirement and benefits costs mean that no money will be saved. And secondly because the government could save £150m a week (£7.5bn a year) in real cash by putting all managerial and administrative staff not directly delivering frontline services on a 4-day week. Many private companies introduced reduced hours to save money and jobs when demand fell, why can’t the government do the same?
The reason is that our government is in the pockets of the Big Four accountancies who will make hundreds of millions from supposedly identifying efficiency savings. If the government just introduced a public-sector 4-day week, there would be no need to hand over taxpayers’ money to the accountancies and no need to pay redundancy and early retirement packages. You though Brown was a financially-incontinent fool, just wait to see the expensive cock-up that Cameron and Osborne will bring us.
By David Craig, on October 28th, 2010 Today Cowardly Cameron is in Brussels. While playing the tough guy opposed to the ludicrous EU budget increase, Cowardly Cameron is already preparing the ground for a complete cave-in. Not only will he allow the corrupt wasteful EU to increase its already bloated budget, but he will also agree to changes to the Lisbon Treaty giving Brussels some control over the UK’s budget without allowing us the promised referendum.
Cowardly Cameron seems to be as much a liar as Liar Blair and Liar Brown. Cowardly Cameron should hang his head in shame – but he probably doesn’t know what shame is.
By David Craig, on October 21st, 2010 Our greedy, expenses-fiddling MPs had a great time cheering on the public spending review that will cost half a million jobs. Liar Osborne and Liar Cameron claim “we’re all in this together”. But I didn’t see any 25% cuts in the number of MPs, increases in the amount MPs pay towards their generous pensions or a later retirement date for MPs.
Our self-serving MPs had a great time clapping and cheering knowing that they could all continue their multi-millionaire lifestyle – cheating on their expenses, giving our money to family members and retiring on the most generous pension scheme in Britain. What a bunch of scum!
By David Craig, on October 20th, 2010 The readers’ comments in the Grauniad are truly wonderful today. Even though Osborne is only taking public spending back to the 2007 level, Grauniad readers seem to believe this is the total destruction of the NHS, education and the welfare state. If this goes on, there will be so many heart attacks and strokes amongst the Guardianistas that the venerable paper will lose many of its readers.
By David Craig, on October 20th, 2010 You’ve got to laugh. Like several previous PMs, Cowardly Cameron has promised us a referendum on any further changes to the Lisbon Treaty. The ugly twins, Germany and France, have decided that the Lisbon Treaty needs to be changed because of the financial crisis. So how will Cowardly Cameron wriggle out of that promise?
Perhaps, like Blair and Brown, he’ll claim changes to treaties are not changes to treaties. Perhaps he’ll say ‘now is not the right time’. Perhaps he’ll….. Well who knows what feeble excuse he and Hague will dream up. But there’s one certainty, Cameron hasn’t got the cojones to keep his promise of a referendum.
By David Craig, on October 19th, 2010 That great economic genius, Alan Johnson, is apparently ploughing through the first chapter of a book on economics to bring himself up to speed as shadow chancellor. But he has already made his first wise pronouncements – all our problems have been caused by the banks. Alan old chap, do you not think the fact that Gordon Brown and the government in which you so lucratively served spent £4 for every £3 taken in tax from 2000 to 2007 might have contributed to Britain’s problems?
Instead of reading about economics, why don’t you get a Dickens collection and see what Mr. Micawber said about spending more than you earn? Alan Johnson are a liar or just a fool?
By David Craig, on October 18th, 2010 Once again it seems like the incompetent dolts at the MoD have excelled themselves. Apparently they have ordered the two new and unnecessary £5bn aircraft carriers knowing that there won’t be any planes to fly from them. Sadly I predicted precisely this situation over four years ago in my book Plundering the Public Sector.
Who is stupider? The MoD or our politicians? It’s a close call. Our enemies must be laughing their sandals off.
By David Craig, on October 17th, 2010 Multimillionaire David Cameron claims “we’re all in this together”. But we’re not. Our MPs are being allowed to continue stealing our money by fiddling their expenses. And in the House of Lords, they’ve changed the rules to make stealing our money much easier too. Now a peer just has to spend one day a month in their supposed ‘main home’ to be able to claim £300 a day – no questions asked.
David Cameron – you are a liar! We’re not all in this together. You and your thieving, greedy, self-serving political mates have given yourselves free reign to steal as much of our money as you want while slashing public spending and jobs to make yourselves rich at our expense. David Cameron – you are a liar!
By David Craig, on October 15th, 2010 The universities are shroudwaving claiming that the coming cuts will destroy higher education. But remember, many so-called ‘universities’ are just polytechnics in disguise. To move from poly to uni status, they just extended one- and two-year diploma courses into three-year degree courses – often without changing the content at all. My contacts in the press tell me that they learnt as much in a 40-week diploma course in journalism as today’s students learn in three years on a degree course.
Polytechnics, pretending to be universities, have been conning students for years. It’s time to cut their budgets, cut the length of their courses and make them provide better value for their students.
