By David Craig, on March 2nd, 2011 At a time when we’re cutting public services because we’ve no money, our idiotic transport secretary, Philip Hammond, wants to splash out £32bn on a rail line that will cut a few minutes off the train journey between London and Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. Using the usual dodgy consultants’ estimates, buffoon Hammond claims that we’ll get £44bn ‘economic benefits’ from his great plan. But what if the rail link were to go over budget and cost more than the £32bn? The Olympics were budgeted at £2.4bn, but will cost us over £10bn. The NHS computer system should have cost £2.3bn but if ever completed will be over £8bn. Barts hospital was planned at £620m, but came in at around £1bn. I could go on and on and on. But you probably get the picture.
Not a single major project launched by our government has ever come in anywhere near the original budget. The high speed rail link is a disaster we don’t need and which can never pay for itself. So is Philip Hammond a liar or a fool? Both, I suspect.
By David Craig, on March 1st, 2011 What is in the water in Number 10 Downing Street that makes our prime ministers want to invade muslim countries? Anthony Eden had his shot with the Suez disaster. Then things went quiet, till Blair came along. He made up for years of inactivity by invading not one but two muslim countries – both were bloody disasters just like Suez. And now Cameron seems to want to emulate his hero war criminal Blair by attacking Libya. When will these fools realise that quite understandably most muslims do not want to be ‘liberated’ by invading ‘christian’ armies mainly after their oil? Doesn’t idiot Cameron understand that the use of force against Libyans will probably unite the country against the invaders and we’ll end up with the national sport becoming killing British troops, just like in Iraq and Afghanistan?
If the buffoon in Downing Street wants to pick a fight with someone, why doesn’t he choose Zimbabwe or North Korea? He could liberate them from their cruel dictators. Sorry, I forgot, there’s not much oil in Zimbabwe or North Korea.
By David Craig, on February 28th, 2011 As the government tries to justify increasing aid to the Third World while cutting British public services, there are a few facts that it chooses not to tell us. Firstly, studies by the UN have repeatedly shown that around 80% of all aid is either pocketed by corrupt bureaucrats and businessmen or lost through incompetence. But perhaps even worse is the fact that while around $100bn is given to the Third World each year by developed countries, at the same time around ten times as much – $1 trillion – is skimmed off by their corrupt leaders and sent to bank accounts in Switzerland, London, Cayman Islands and other offshore financial centres.
If we could clamp down on the kleptocrats and stop just a quarter of their thieving, then we wouldn’t need to provide any aid at all and their citizens would have better food, healthcare, schools and longer life expectancy. But that would require our politicians taking on the major banks which profit from the kleptocrats’ money. As most political parties are in the pockets of the banks, that will never happen. So we will continue giving aid that is stolen or wasted, Third World leaders will steal a trillion a year and their populations will continue to live in unnecessary misery. You couldn’t make it up!
By David Craig, on February 27th, 2011 When the Irish voted against the Lisbon Treaty a few years ago the EU bullied them to vote again till they gave the right answer. Now the Irish have voted for a new government that wants to renegotiate the terms of the bailout, it’s worth quoting the ominous words of an unelected top EU official, “It is not even take it or leave it. It’s done. Ireland’s only role in this now is to implement the programme agreed with the EU, IMF and European Central Bank. Irish voters are not a party in this process, whatever they have been told.”
In Britain, as the incompetent and politically-motivated European Court of Human Rights makes a mockery of our laws and exposes the impotence of our government, we’re beginning to realise how much power has been ceded to the unelected, wasteful, corrupt ruling elite in Brussels. But I think the EU official’s words sum up our situation and Ireland’s – it doesn’t matter how we vote any more, the EU has the power to over-ride any democratic decisions countries now make. Mikhail Gorbachev warned us, “the most puzzling development in politics during the last decade is the apparent determination of Western European leaders to recreate the Soviet Union in Western Europe”. How right he was, But our lying, spineless scum leaders are afraid to tell us the truth of how they have handed over our country to a few unelected, self-serving, greedy and incompetent eurocrats who now make over 80% of our laws.
By David Craig, on February 27th, 2011 Who was the best paid leader in the EU? Merkel with Germany’s 82 million population? Sarkozy or Cameron with about 62 million each? No, it was Ireland’s Taoiseach, Brian ‘the pig’ Cowen, leading just 4.4 million. He got €285,000 a year compared to Sarkozy’s €253,000, Merkel’s €242,000 and Cameron’s €172,000. Moreover, on €92,000 a year, Ireland’s politicians are also some of the best paid in Europe. Then, of course many of Fianna Fail’s members pocketed millions in bribes from corrupt builders and dodgy bank loans that will never have to be repaid.
The useless BBC and other media have claimed Cowen and Fianna Fail lost the election. In fact this bunch of incompetent crooks are laughing all the way to their holiday homes in France and Italy, where they can live like millionaires for the rest of their lives thanks to the enforced generosity of Irish taxpayers, while leaving someone else to clean up the mess they caused with their stupidity and dishonesty. (Reminds you a bit of Britain?)
As for Ireland’s new rulers, we should remember the song by the Who – “meet the new boss, same as the old boss”. There’s only one certainty for the Irish, their overpaid leaders will continue their uncontrolled thieving of taxpayers’ money and there’s nothing the Irish can do about it.
By David Craig, on February 26th, 2011 It’s worth noting that the cost of the 2011 Census (£480m) would be enough to pay the salaries of 4,000 squaddies for 5 years (or 20,000 for one year). So given the choice between an unneccessary census (which will just duplicate all the other information held by New Labour’s Big Brother Britain) or keeping our soldiers in employment, idiot Cameron, his hand-puppet Clegg and the slimey Liam Fox have decided to keep the census and fire the soldiers – many by email.
Next time any of these recidivist liars – Cameron, Clegg or Fox – claims they have to make ‘tough decisions, remember they’re lying. All they need to do is make the right decisions, like for example cancelling the census and keeping our soldiers in their jobs.
By David Craig, on February 26th, 2011 Most of us have now realised that our politicians are lying, thieving, arrogant scum. But when buying property too many of us still naively believe that our surveyor and lawyer are acting for us. This can be a costly mistake. You must remember that your surveyor and conveyancing lawyer will probably only work for you once in their lives. However, they will probably work with the estate agent trying to flog you a property every month and maybe every week. So surveyors’ and lawyers’ interests are more in keeping up a good relationship with estate agents, than in worrying about your welfare – if a surveyor were constantly brutally honest about the real condition of properties, they’d soon see their work dry up as they wouldn’t get any recommendations from estate agents.
I found this out when buying my flat. Both the surveyor and lawyer hid the truth about the property from me. But when I threatened both of them with legal action, the surveyor handed over £2,500 and the lawyer £4,000 on condition that I didn’t expose their dishonesty. You have been warned.
By David Craig, on February 24th, 2011 As the Bank of England (BoE) mulls over raising interest rates, all the personal finance journalists warn us that even a small rise in interest rates will mean much more expensive mortgages. But aren’t they forgetting something? The main mortgage lenders have tripled their profit margins on mortgages since the 2007 crash, making mortgages eyewateringly profitable for them.
When asked why mortgage rates keep increasing while the BoE has kept interest rates at 0.5%, the lenders claim that as the money they borrow on the open markets is becoming more expensive, they have to raise mortgage rates. Yet you can be sure that as soon as the BoE does raise rates, the lenders will suddenly claim that they have to follow suit. This is a lie. They are making historically record profits on mortgages. Even if the BoE put interest rates up to 1%, lenders would still be making massive profits without raising mortgage rates. But one thing you can be sure of, if the BoE moves, our mortgage payments will shoot up – after all, there are all those big bankers’ bonuses to pay.
By David Craig, on February 24th, 2011 I wasted 20 minutes of my life last night watching Manchester United pretend to play football against Marseille. Knowing that the Manu players get paid between £100,000 and £200,000 a week to play football, entertain their fans and score goals, I expected to see some effort at an attack on Marseille’s goal. But the Manu players spent most of the game hanging around in their own half passing the ball to each other. And that great footballing genius Wayne “grab a granny” Rooney hardly touched the ball.
What a disgrace when these self-serving, arrogant, pig-ignorant, overpaid thugs can’t even be bothered to do 90 minutes work for the many millions they get from their long-suffering fans. But I suppose they get paid so much that they don’t really give a toss. It’s just snouts in the trough as usual.
By David Craig, on February 23rd, 2011 It seems that the departing boss of Amnesty has just been given £500,000 of donors’ money and her deputy got a cool £300,000. Amnesty’s supporters probably thought their hard-earned money was being used to help protect political prisoners not provide luxury lifestyles for Amnesty chiefs. But sadly Amnest seems to have forgotten its purpose. It has now just become a huge, overpaid, snouts-in-the-trough bureaucracy whose prime interest is in looking after the well-being of its staff.
Although Amnesty is always quick to condemn Israel for everything under the sun, Amnesty seems to be remarkably quiet as Mad Dog Gaddafi sets fighter jets and helicopter gunships on unarmed opponents of his distatorship. But then Amnesty has always been profoundly anti-semitic and very careful never to criticise the appalling atrocities occuring in places like Syria, Libya, Iran and other arab countries.
