(Given the level of hysteria and the deluge of false claims and lies surrounding the Grenfell Tower disaster, Friday’s blog will be longer than usual. And I may also leave it up both for Friday and for the weekend because I believe it’s important for the true facts to be revealed and the politicians’ and journalists’ lies to be exposed)
After the Grenfell Tower fire disaster, Labour (as usual eagerly supported by the libtards at the BBC and Channel 4 News) were quick to build a narrative that went something like this – in London’s richest borough (Kensington and Chelsea) a Tory council, that didn’t care about housing for the poor, and Tory austerity cuts were responsible for the Grenfell deaths or “Grenfell murders” as Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, John McDonnell so elegantly put it during his Glastonbury speech to the politically-correct idiots at the music festival. And. of course, London’s Labour Mayor, Sadiq Khan, is busy scoring political points by insisting that commissioners be sent in to run Tory-controlled Kensington and Chelsea council.
So, in this blog, I’ll try to put forward a few facts which may paint a very different picture to the one Corbyn and McDonnell and Khan and Laura Kuensberg and Jon Snow and Cathy Newman and Krishnan WhateverHisName etc seem so keen to sell to us.
Here are possibly 6 of the most important facts:
1. The Tory council was not responsible
The block of flats was run not by the Council, but by Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation (KCTMO).
In the early 1990s, the tenants and leaseholders of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea decided to pursue their legal right to manage their own homes. Following two separate ballots in 1994 and 1995, the KCTMO was established on 1 April 1996 and the responsibility for managing 9,760 properties passed from The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to the KCTMO.
The Council still owns the properties and retains responsibility for strategic housing policies and homeless people. The relationship between KCTMO and the Council is governed by a Management Agreement, which covers all areas of the landlord business. Whilst KCTMO still enjoys a close working relationship with the Council, it is a completely separate company.
In 2002 KCTMO took over the responsibility for major capital works from the Council to access extra resources and funding to enable KCTMO to bring the properties up to the Decent Homes Standard.
KCTMO is managed by a Board of Directors comprising of 8 elected tenant and leaseholder members, 4 appointed Councillor members and 3 independent appointed other members.
Shall I repeat that?
KCTMO is managed by a Board of Directors comprising of 8 elected tenant and leaseholder members, 4 appointed Councillor members and 3 independent appointed other members. This means that the majority of people running the KCTMO accused of “not listening to tenants” were tenants and/or leaseholders!!!!!
So, if Labour or Corbyn or John McDonnell or Khan and the BBC and Channel 4 News are looking for their “Grenfell Tower murderers”, they can find them among the people responsible for running the KCTMO and not the Council.
When the much-maligned head of the Council stated something like “the tenants didn’t want the disruption of installing sprinklers” he was probably correct in that it would have been the KCTMO, majority run by tenants (and not the Council), that took the decision not to spend an additional £138k on fitting sprinklers.
Of course, the Council’s response to the fire was dismal. Probably, most of the councillors are pompous, self-important, self-serving, verbally-flatulent, incompetent buffoons (as are most people serving on councils – Labour and Tory). But legally and morally, responsibility for management of social housing lay with the KCTMO and had the Council tried to interfere with the KCTMO’s work, there would have been the usual lefty libtard howls of outrage against the supposed privileged ruling classes denying council tenants the right to manage their own homes (as defined by the law – see point 2 below).
2. Labour introduced the legislation empowering tenant management organisations
The laws laying down the rights of tenants to create Arms Length Management Organisations (ALMO) such as the KCTMO were made under the Right To Manage legislation passed in 2002 as part of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act.
This was put in place to give leaseholders and tenants stronger and well-defined legal rights to a greater say and the ability to self manage (which in some circumstances has clearly proven to be flawed).
Who was in a charge when this law was passed? It was Blair’s New Labour.
Moreover, as far as I understand, many of the buildings now being found dangerous – due to flammable cladding, defective fire doors, inadequate sprinklers etc – (such as the Chalcott Estate high rises re-clad in 2006) were refurbished during Blair and Brown’s period in power from 1997 to 2010, not during supposed “Tory austerity”.
3. Labour MP Emma Coad’s responsibility
The MP for the ward is none other than Emma Coad who won the seat by around just 20 votes in the recent General Election
Ms Dent Coad has been one of the most vocal critics of the Council and made her maiden speech in the Commons about the Grenfell Tower fire. Coad has accused Tory-led Kensington and Chelsea Council of failures that led to the blaze, claiming “poor-quality materials and construction standards have played a part in this hideous and unforgivable event”.
But as a councillor (since May 2006) Coad was on Kensington and Chelsea’s Housing and Property Scrutiny Committee, which oversees “community safety issues”, until May 2014. A 2014/15 report, in which she is named, says the committee scrutinised work on Grenfell Tower. Moreover, Ms Coad has been active in deciding building matters for many years as she was also on the Council’s Major Planning Development Committee
Furthermore, guess who was one of the 3 appointed Councillor members (from 2008 to 2012) of the KCTMO, that was responsible for the building works and accused of “not listening to tenants”. Yup, you guessed, it was none other than Labour MP and former Labour councillor for many years Emma Coad.
Ooops!
4. Was the building a Third-World slum?
Apparently there was only one stairwell down which people could escape. But were residents prevented from getting down the stairwell and through corridors due to burning piles of rubbish left by residents themselves?
If so, we can be sure that political correctness will prevent this fact ever coming out.
Residents had apparently been complaining about the rubbish for some time, but it was the KCTMO (where a majority of directors were residents) that was responsible for rubbish clearance.
5. Labour are responsible for the ‘under-funded’ London Fire Service
London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan has made lots of political capital by claiming that London’s Fire Service was underfunded and that the Fire Service’s advice for people to stay put was responsible for so many deaths.
But who is in overall charge of London’s fire service? Labour London Mayor Sadiq Khan!
Moreover, Sadiq Khan as mayor of London produced a report to say that the fire service did not need further funding. And I suspect Mr Khan has been extraordinarily generous with taxpayers’ money when it comes to funding Religion of Peace community groups giving them millions that could have been spent on better equipment for the London Fire Service. Moreover, I seem to remember that just after being elected Khan spent several hundred thousand pounds of London taxpayers’ money setting up a special police unit to investigate ‘hate crimes’ and ‘hate speech’. Perhaps Mr Khan’s priorities were slightly misplaced?
Anyway, guess who is a member of Mayor Khan’s London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority – surprise surprise it’s none other than our favourite Labour Councillor and now MP Emma Coad. It seems that Ms Coad is very busy indeed with building management and fire safety issues in the borough and throughout London until things go wrong! Then she launches her (self-serving?) tirades of criticism (at the bodies of which she was and is a leading member)
Ooops and double ooops!
6. The role of EU environmental regulations
When the Grenfell Tower was built, the cladding materials were glass-based and inert. Fire could not pass through or behind the cladding. Since then, authority for specification of construction materials has passed from individual governments to the EU. The EU has decreed, as part of climate change initiatives, that the main purpose of cladding is to provide insulation, thus reducing the need to burn fuel. When, three years ago, the tenant-run KCTMO spent £8m+ on up-grading the Grenfell Tower, it had no option but to use cladding permitted by the EU.
What we don’t yet know is whether flammable or non-flammable cladding was specified in the KCTMO’s refurbishment contract and who specified the flammable cladding. But it is possible that a flammable cladding was used as it was seen to have better insulation properties and thus be more environmentally friendly than the non-flammable version. Hopefully the inquiry will shed light on why the KCTMO chose flammable cladding. But I’m doubtful.
Conclusion
On Thursday I wrote about the Hillsborough and Heysel tragedies. Whereas everyone was rightly putting blame on poor regulations and incompetent policing, I tried to make the politically-incorrect suggestion that the behaviour of hordes of drunken, yobbish Liverpool fans was the underlying cause of both the Heysel and Hillsborough deaths.
Looking at the above facts, I humbly suggest that political correctness will similarly prevent the truth about Grenfell Tower coming out.
And what is that truth?
The tenants’ organisation (KCTMO), accused of “not listening to tenants”, was operating under laws passed by Labour to give greater control to tenants
The tenants and a Labour Councillor (and later MP) had majority control over the KCTMO
The KCTMO (not the Council) was responsible for the refurbishment
The new Labour MP, Emma Coad, played a major role as councillor on Council building committees and as one of the 3 appointed members of the KCTMO
Emma Coad seems to me to have done an excellent job avoiding responsibility for her own role in the disaster
Many similarly dangerous refurbishments were done in Labour councils under the New Labour government
Labour London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, was responsible for the fire service that he criticises so much
It may have been piles of rubbish left by residents which helped spread the fire and blocked residents’ escape routes
It may have been EU environmental rules which led to the specification of flammable cladding
But I doubt the lefties and libtards in politics and the media will allow anything like the truth to intrude on their “we hate the Tories” version of events.

So, the Hillsborough inquiry finally reaches a conclusion of sorts after spending over £100m of our money.
And the result – all Liverpool football fans are angels who would never touch alcohol and the rival fans, authorities and police are dastardly criminals. And this is the narrative being obediently pushed by all the mainstream media.
Sorry mate, I know it’s politically-incorrect, but I don’t buy this convenient rewriting of history.
There have been four major football disasters in Europe in the last 30+ years – Heysel 1985 (fans fighting) 39 dead, Bradford 1985 (fire) 56 dead, Ibrox 1971 (fans crushed) 66 dead and Hillsborough 1989 (fans fighting) 96 dead. Liverpool fans have been involved in two of these four – Heysel and Hillsborough – the two caused by rival fans fighting each other.
I’ve written before about how (even though my family comes from Liverpool) I suspect the whole Hillsborough campaign is yet another attempt by whining scousers to portray themselves as eternal victims and then, in an age where nobody ever takes responsibility for their own actions, to ‘win the lottery’ by claiming vast amounts in compensation from British taxpayers while bleating that all they really want is “truth” and “justice”.
I’m sure that in all these disasters the stadiums were dilapidated, the organisation terrible, the police reaction incompetent and then there were deliberate attempts by the authorities to fake reports to cover up their own inadequacies.
But in my humble opinion, if at Hillsborough and Heysel the Liverpool fans had not behaved like a bunch of drunken, feral savages, perhaps there wouldn’t have been any need for the authorities to intervene in the first place?
I suspect that if the problems at been at a tennis or cricket or even rugby match, there would have been no casualties and no disaster.
I have written about this before and was contacted by a reader who says he was at Hillsborough and knows about Heysel. So, in the interests of balance, here’s his side of the story. Naturally this person claims that at both Hillsborough and Heysel all Liverpool fans were totally innocent and it was the rival fans and the authorities (mainly the police) which were at fault. Readers can make up their own minds about where the truth lies.
“I was there. People arrived late due to major road works, joining the people outside the turnstiles. Some fans who had managed to get to Sheffield early had been to the pubs in the area, which was normal then and is normal now. Having a couple of pints and heading to a stadium to see the game and gaining access safely, even on late arrival, was a common event during the terrace stadium days. But, what happened that day could have been prevented by better police practice and better stewarding.”
“Nobody was trying to storm the turnstiles. Thousands of ticket holders became stuck outside the Leppings Lane end, due to the small number of entrances being unable to cope with the sudden and late arrivals. The police lost control of the situation. The order was given by the police to open a exit gate to let people in, to relieve the crowd pressure outside. The stadium was unable to deal with the surge through the gate, with people being forced down the tunnel behind the goal. The pen behind the goal overfilled and people were crushed to death.”
“So in my opinion, the fans could not be blamed for what happened in any way. Poor organisation of policing outside and inside the ground was very evident on the day. The lack of medical services at the stadium. A couple of ambulances allowed to the seat of the crush, with many, many more lined up in the road outside not given permission to go onto the pitch. All of theses factors caused this terrible event.”
“With regards to the Heysel tragedy, twelve months before in Rome, Liverpool fans, including many women and children had been attacked by Roma fans on exiting the stadium. Concrete and other items had been hurled down on them from a road above, injuring many fans. At Heysel a lot of Liverpool supporters had talked of not letting the Italians off if they began trouble this time.”
“Outside Heysel a number of Italians had slashed Liverpool fans with knives across the legs and backsides. Inside the stadium, zone Z was due to be a neutral area, next to the Liverpool fans. In fact it was almost full with Italians. With a small number of English in there. They came under attack from some Juventus fans. This was seen by Liverpool fans across the chicken wire fence. The Liverpool fans then charged at the Italians. They backed away causing many, many fans to be forced against the wall, which gave way. In my opinion our fans should not have charged, they should have let the police deal with the issues in zone Z. But, my feeling is the crowd had reacted due to the previous year’s events and incidents on the day.”
“What happened at both stadiums could have been prevented. Better policing at both. The wrong stadiums had been selected. Both were antiquated. The ticket allocations by the 2 football bodies left a lot to be desired. Segregation at Heysel. The larger Liverpool following at Hillsborough should have had the larger Kop end, with many more turnstiles.”

Apparently three journalists from CNN (the Clinton News Network) ‘resigned’ a couple of days ago when it was revealed that they had been making up stories about supposed connections between democratically-elected President Trump’s associates and representatives of the Russian Government.
Oh dear, in the USA it hasn’t been a great week so far for lefty, democracy-hating, free-speech-loathing, mouth-frothing libtards.
But now on to today’s little story. Apparently there’s a guy in the US who posts short videos on YouTube under the title “Wild Bill in America”. I think he’s a former policeman with 20 years service. In his videos he tends to criticise the lefties’ attempts to destroy America through race replacement and outlawing free speech.
Anyway, a few days ago Wild Bill went to speak at an event in Canada. The subject of his talk was apparently about how Sharia Law oppresses women and the need for people to be able to criticise the Moozerlumification of the West.
In this video, Wild Bill describes how he was held by Canadian border guards for seven hours while being questioned and threatened. What he describes is more like a scene from a totalitarian sh*t-hole like North Korea or Saudi Arabia rather than from a supposed free democracy like Canada.
You don’t need to watch the whole video to get a sense for how Canada’s authorities have become increasingly fascist in their attempts to crush anyone daring to criticise their rulers’ betrayal of their own country.
As I was threatened by the British police a few months ago and warned of serious consequences unless I toned down my blog, I have a slight idea of how political correctness has corrupted our once free country in the same way that Wild Bill describes.

Well, that’s Ramadan over for this year. But I expect you’re all wondering what the final score was in terms of the number of people killed in religiously-inspired attacks by our friends from the religion we all love and admire.

Yes, I know, utterly pathetic. Only 1,595 confirmed kills, a miserable almost negligible 53 people a day being murdered because of religion.
That’s even less than Ramadan 2016:
In 2016, there were a slightly more impressive 1,850 confirmed kills – about 62 a day.
Though, if the Egyptian police hadn’t foiled an attack on a crowded Coptic Christian church and the Saudis hadn’t prevented an attempted attack on a large mosque by two suicide bombers, then perhaps this year, with a few hundred more dead, our peaceful friends might have managed to beat their 2016 score?
Actually, perhaps we shouldn’t be dismayed by the annual Ramadan toll of murder and mayhem in the name of religion. Over 90% of those killed by the screaming, inbred, low-IQ crazies were just other screaming, inbred, low-IQ crazies. So, removing them from this earth, slightly improves the quality of the human gene pool. Like Theresa May (above) maybe we should all welcome Ramadan and the benefit it brings to mankind. Let’s hope next year’s score is better than what our peaceful brothers achieved in 2017 bringing further improvements to the gene pool.
One suspects, however, that Ramadan 2017’s low final score must be slightly disappointing for all our friends in ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Taliban and other associated groups who provide so much fun family entertainment around the world every year as they demonstrate the many joys of their most excellent and peaceful religion:
We all know that everything elected US President Donald Trump says or does will be greeted with howls of scorn and derision by the political elites and their sycophantic mainstream media. After all, our rulers’ worst nightmare is that Establishment outsider Trump actually turns out to be a successful president. Since becoming president, Trump has allowed US border agencies to do their job protecting the US’s borders, has accelerated the expulsion of foreign rapists, robbers and murderers and has made it clear to the invading Third-World armies that many of them are no longer welcome in America.

The Newcastle Mosque incident
You’ll notice that our rulers and the media have gone very very quiet about what happened at Newcastle Mosque when a car ploughed into worshippers from the Religion of Peace and Tolerance a couple of days ago injuring 6 including some children. Very, very quiet indeed.
What could be the reason for this unusual silence?
Could it be that the driver was a Moozerlum woman? Could the driver have been this 42-year-old Moozerlum woman?
Could it be that this 42-year-old Moozerlum woman, who had been celebrating the end of Ramavan with her no doubt numerous family, lost control of her car when she stamped on the accelerator rather than the brake?
I wonder if the driver of the car involved even had a driving license? Or insurance? Or road tax?
But there’s only one certainty – if the driver was a Moozerlum woman, we’ll never be told the truth. (Especially if she didn’t have a driving licence, insurance or road tax)
A truth like this wouldn’t fit into the Establishment narrative that Britain’s Moozerlums are innocent victims of waaccissssmmm and hate crimes rather than (as some crazy, bigoted people apparently believe) members of a violent, intolerant, often illiterate, often unemployable, often criminal, often benefits-dependent, rapidly-reproducing invading army.
Now that most of my former readers will have stopped visiting snouts-in-the-trough.com, I’ll try to slowly build up a new base of readers who will hopefully not be as miserable, selfish and tightfisted as those who used to read this blog.

One law for us, no law for them
But I’ll leave you with a heartwarming story from the Islamic Republic of Sweden. Just try to imagine what would have happened to two white men if they had carried out the crime described below. Even in gutless, surrender-monkey Sweden they’d have been locked up for years.
But, of course, when the crime is committed by violent, low-IQ, Third-World habitual criminals, all they get is a few months in a comfortable Swedish hotel pretending to be a prison.
Here’s the story – it tells us a lot about how low we have sunk in our abject surrender to libtard political correctness and the Third-World takeover of Europe:
Two migrants have been given sentences of three and two-and-a-half years for beating a young man almost to death before violently raping his female friend. The government will try to deport only one of them, temporarily.
The Freie Zeiten reports that three teenage girls and one male friend met for a party at an apartment in Kista, near Stockholm, citing Solna District Court documents.
One of the girls invited a 21-year-old migrant from Liberia, Richelieu Jarara, with whom she was acquainted. This man brought another African migrant, a Kenyan named Fayed Mwangi, with him.
Before long, the migrants began sexually harassing the girls. Matters quickly escalated from there, with the pair conferring briefly before spraying their male friend in the face with pepper spray.
The Freie Zeiten describes how they then beat and kicked the man with “brutal force”, leaving him with “multiple cerebral haemorrhages, severe swelling and bruises all over his body, as well as bone fractures and open wounds”.
The three girls, as well as the attackers, thought the young man had been beaten to death, with Jarara actually uploading a video to Snapchat in which he made light of having “killed a guy”.
He was, in fact, still alive, but unconscious and permanently brain damaged.
Jarara’s younger companion, 19-year-old Mwangi, is said to have “strangled” one of the girls when she tried to intervene, slamming her into a wall and “hurling” her to the floor.
The Kenyan then grabbed another of the girls by the hair, dragged her into the bedroom and raped her. She was also strangled, with the Kenyan threatening to strike her if she screamed.
The ordeal was finally brought to an end when a neighbour burst into the apartment, allowing the girls to flee.
According to the Fria Tider, the court sentenced Mwangi to just two-and-a-half years for his crimes, despite his having raped another woman in May 2016. The government will attempt to deport him afterwards – although he will be allowed to return to the country after ten years, and judges have prevented other European countries, such as the United Kingdom, from following through on deporting criminal migrants after their sentences in the past.
Jarara, who has a string of previous convictions for crimes including theft, serious bodily injury, and resisting arrest, was given a slightly longer sentence – three years – but he will not be deported.

In the coming conflagration, it will initially be civilians, armed not with tanks and machine guns, but with knives, bombs and terror, who will call out the dogs of war.
I say “initially” because although the army will be of little use in the beginning, it will certainly be capable of forming an impregnable line behind which the native Europeans, unused to knife fighting, will flee and re-group.
And then, enter America — as always— Europe’s saviour. Whilst Europe’s navies blockade the ports, America will deliver technical weaponry to the organised Europeans, weaponry against which Islam will have no response. Whilst they are being annihilated in response to the butchery they carried out in the early days of the war, Muslim countries such as Pakistan and Iran will threaten a nuclear response. If they do, they too will be annihilated.
Such is the future brought about by multicultural liberals. Not only will they be responsible for bloodshed unseen even in the last century, they will also be responsible for the extinction of Islam. In 1907 no one could see the coming carnage, whereas in 2007 all educated people with some knowledge of history can see the inevitable. Quite how large this war becomes is of course beyond any prediction. However, it will not be limited to a merely European conflict. Our civil war could well become a global nuclear war against Islam; and one the Islamists have no hope of winning.
Such a scenario is unimaginable to the vapid multiculturalists, but it is their actions, past and present, which will bring about this nightmare. One can hardly blame Islam for wishing to dominate the world, but one can certainly blame liberals for giving them the geographical means and ideological confidence whereby they feel confident that it is actually possible. Will they attempt it? On a small scale, with their ratio of 18:1 they are attempting it now. How do you think they will behave with a ratio of 5:1 let alone 2:1?
The liberal response to an essay such as this is to make accusations of hysteria and paranoia. To those, I would say only one thing: rather than leave sneering one line comments, give us a thousand word, closely reasoned article explaining why the scenario outlined above is not likely. Use reality-based arguments rather than simply repeating outmoded ideology.
As much as I wish you could present such a case against my scenario, I believe the war is inevitable, and it will be a tragedy for the West, for Islam, and for all of mankind.
(Yipee! I’ve sold some books! Four copies of FORGET THE FOREPLAY yesterday to be precise. Ohhhh. Just four copies in spite of almost a thousand people visiting the site yesterday. So, I don’t think I’m ever going to get to the 50 I was hoping for. Still, I might as well struggle on for another few days in case some of those thousand people suddenly find they really can afford a few pounds after all. Though this seems unlikely. I didn’t realise that so many of my readers were so financially squeezed)
Nowadays, tragedies seem to attract celebs like a huge pile of fresh steaming cow dung attracts starving flies. No sooner had we heard about the dreadful Grenfell Tower fire than various singers and celebs and suchlike quickly rushed to the scene to supposedly “comfort” survivors and, conveniently, get their pictures and opinions splashed all over the press and TV.
But (in my humble opinion) perhaps, nobody has shown a greater ability to exploit the shallow superficiality and narcissistic emoting of the snowflake generation than the wonderfully wealthy ‘Sir’ Simon Cowell.
When we heard about the fire, Cowell’s PR people quickly got in touch with the sycophantic, brown-nosing media to announce that generous ‘Sir’ Simon would be raising about £5m for the unfortunate victims. So, let’s just consider for a moment the two main ways generous ‘Sir’ Simon might raise that money:
1. Use his own fortune
According to Google, ‘Sir’ Simon is worth about £325m and earns over £70m a year. So, if he really wanted to help the Grenfell Tower victims, he could have just quietly and anonymously donated £5m or £10m or even £20m and it wouldn’t have made even the slightest dent in his fortune. In fact, assuming he pays a little tax, he could have actually set his donation against tax and it would hardly have cost him anything.
2. Use the tragedy to make more money
The second option would be by getting a bunch of his karaoke singers to make a record in support of the Grenfell Tower victims. Then hundreds of thousands of shallow, superficial, selfie-taking, me-me-me, emoting snowflakes could buy the song and feel they were contributing to help the fire victims.
This approach would have several benefits – for ‘Sir’ Simon, of course. Firstly, ‘Sir’ Simon wouldn’t have to part with a penny of his own money mountain – it would be shallow snowflakes’ money that went to the victims. Secondly, it would get Cowell and his karaoke warblers massive media publicity for his and their supposed “generosity”. Thirdly, it would help sales of future records by Cowell’s karaoke warblers making him and them lots more money. And fourthly, it would probably lead to him getting a knighthood or some other gong for his “services to charity”.
Conclusion
Given this, it’s not too difficult to guess which approach ‘Sir’ Simon has chosen to demonstrate his “generosity“. Apparently, the great record will be on sale from Monday!
Meanwhile, Sir Andy Murray also seems to have jumped on the Grenfell Tower bandwagon. He has (or rather his PR people have?) promised to give all his “winnings” from the Queens Club tennis tournament to the Grenfell Tower victims. Had Sir Andy won Queens, as he has done five times in the past, that would have raised £350,000 for the fire victims. So, quite a generous offer. Unfortunately an off-form Sir Andy got knocked out in straight sets in the first round of Queens yesterday by a substitute player who only found out he would be playing a couple of hours before the match due to the scheduled player dropping out through injury. So Sir Andy’s “winnings” are going to be slightly more modest than the widely-publicised £350,000. Well, actually a lot more modest! About £12,000, I think.
Little nowadays smells quite as bad as the extremely wealthy using other people’s tragedies to further their own careers and increase their own wealth.
So ‘Sir’ Simon and Sir Andy and Dame Lily Allen and others of your ilk, next time there’s a tragedy, give anonymously if you want. You can afford it.
About a week ago, I asked readers to show their support for the work I’ve put in over the last 5+ years running and writing this site.
All I wanted was for some readers to buy copies (either paperback or Kindle) of my latest book FORGET THE FOREPLAY. I don’t care if people read it, send it to their worst enemy or use it as firelighter for their trendy wood-burning stoves come the winter. I just wanted readers to buy a few copies to support my work.
The reason – if I could just get 10 to 15 people a day buying the book for the next week or so, that would push the book up the amazon.co.uk rankings and maybe lead to a few more copies being sold. Or maybe not? Who knows? But it was worth a try. At least that’s what I (mistakenly) thought.
So, what was my readers’ response? Only 4 or maybe 5 readers showed support. Given how many people still read this blog, that response is embarrassingly pathetic.
Given that, I’ve decided to throw my toys out of the pram and go on strike.
When 50 copies of my book are sold, I’ll start blogging again. If I can’t reach 50 copies, then none of us loses anything. In fact, I’ll gain one to two hours a day and my former readers will lose a website they don’t value anyway.
