The London Ambulance Services is currently hiring an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer. This important individual apparently essential to the health of London’s citizens will be paid £56,276 – £63,176 a year.
The recruitment ad informs us: “Based within the EDI team, the appointed EDI Officer would be responsible for supporting and providing expert in-depth EDI expertise and advice and contributing to the delivery of the Trust’s EDI objectives.”

I note that this DIE Officer is just part of the London Ambulance Service’s DIE Team. Heaven knows how many more of these DIE complete wastes-of-skin are expensively employed by the London Ambulance Service.
I went onto the London Ambulance Service website to see what ambulance paramedics are paid and learnt: “And the salaries are good too. You can expect to earn more than £29,000 as a qualified paramedic, with further increases as you take on more training and responsibility”.
So, an EDI Officer in the London Ambulance Service earns about twice the salary of an experienced medic who actually saves lives. Good to know the priorities of the London Ambulance Service.
Oh, and the first video which appears on the London Ambulance Service website is titled “Sam shares a story about how they helped a non-binary patient”:
So, the pride of the London Ambulance Service was not how they saved the life of someone who had a heart attack or stroke or who was involved in an hoffific car accident. Nope, it was how they helped a ‘non-binary patient’. Beyond belief!
But in a strange way this apparent obsession with ‘non-binary’ leads us on to this:
A message from the NHS Health and Care LGBTQ+ Leaders Network
Here’s an ‘important’ message from the NHS Health and Care LGBTQ+ Leaders Network or what you and I might term total flatulent gibberish which has absolutely nothing to do with improving patient care, cutting waiting lists and improving the NHS’s appallingly high mortality rates for cancer, strokes and heart attacks:
“Last week saw us mark Transgender Day of Remembrance and Trans Awareness Week, this year coming at a time when members have described to us significant uncertainty for trans colleagues and patients. Members may find some external resources recently published to be of interest: the BAGIS’ Supreme Court Ruling FAQs and Anne’s navigating trans+ healthcare pathways toolkit.”
“We are incredibly proud of our executive lead, Dr Layla McCay, for being recognised on two national LGBTQ+ leadership lists. Layla was honoured on both the Outstanding Role Model Lists and the Diversity Power List. Layla unwaveringly champions LGBTQ+ inclusion both publicly and directly with senior healthcare leaders. Both these awards are such well-deserved recognition of her tireless dedication.”
“Finally, as the end of the year approaches, we are planning to host a Network of Networks meeting for LGBTQ+ network chairs on 11 December. As ever, we will celebrate what we’re doing well, and provide an opportunity to share common challenges.”
“We will also discuss examples of best practice when responding to instances of discrimination and spotlight the work of our two new guiding group staff network chair representatives. Keep an eye out for an invite if you’re already signed up, and if you’re not (and you chair a network), do sign-up to join.”
“As ever, thank you for your continued support of the network. If there is anything you would like to share with us, or if you need to get in touch, please do so at LGBTQnetwork@nhsconfed.org.“
No wonder our ‘envy-of-the-world’ NHS is in a state of complete collapse!
