But on further reflection, I think it might have been meant as a serious contribution. So I’ll repeat the reader’s comment in blue and my reply to his points in red:

Children�s Commissioner: Exams could be delayed by Ramadan.
Exams could be delayed to fit around the Ramadan period this year, children�s commissioner Anne Longfield has said.
Ms Longfield told the education select committee that discussions were taking place around �delaying the exam timetable� to fit with the Muslim tradition.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and falls at a different time on the Gregorian calendar each year.

Two Afghan refugees who claimed political asylum in France have been arrested for the attempted rape of a passenger on a Paris train.
A 28-year-old woman traveling alone on the Paris RER express train on 9 December found herself under attack from a group of men who turned out to be Afghan refugees, reports Le Parisien.
Initially the young supermarket worker had entered a deserted carriage, but soon after she was joined by about ten men who boarded at Montparnasse station. It is reported they had been in the notorious Bois de Boulogne park in order to procure sex with transvestites.
Feeling uncomfortable in their presence the woman moved, but three of the men followed and used her isolation to pester her.
At this point matters took a turn for the worse. With the woman described as having been paralysed by fear, one of the three fondled her, another strangled her with her own scarf, and the third held a knife to her face before they all started to undress her.
Luckily for the victim another passenger then boarded and surprised the attackers, intervening in her defence. She managed to get off the train and took refuge in a nearby restaurant. Even so, sources say she was left �very traumatised� by the attack.
The three suspects were seen on CCTV footage recorded at Montparnasse station, from which investigating officers identified them. On 17 December, two of the alleged rapists were arrested in Paris and charged with attempted rape. Although they denied any involvement their alleged victim recognised them.
The arrested migrants were aged 19 and 45 years old. They sought political asylum in France after claiming they fled Afghanistan having been pressured by the Taliban to attack the western world.
The investigation into the whereabouts and identity of the third attacker continues.

Helsinki deputy police chief Ilkka Koskimaki told AFP: �There hasn�t been this kind of harassment on previous New Year�s Eves or other occasions for that matter� This is a completely new phenomenon in Helsinki.�
Security guards hired to patrol the city on New Year�s Eve told police there had been �widespread sexual harassment� at a central square where around 20,000 people had gathered for celebrations.

As the self-appointed guardians of all that is virtuous and just incessantly berate as �Islamophobic� their compatriots who entertain second thoughts about importing Islamic culture into the West, these same self-avowed agents of �tolerance� utter not a peep regarding the murderous persecution to which Christians and other religious minorities are daily subjected throughout the Islamic world (and beyond).
Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) is one organization that exists to raise awareness of this crisis.
In at least 50 countries around the globe, Christians suffer �severe� oppression. Most of these countries�about 80%–have near exclusively Muslim majority populations.
Take, for example, �Amina.� Amina is a Nigerian woman who, in 2011, was staying with her friend �Charity� and the latter�s children when their village was besieged by Islamic militants firing guns.
Charity was ill and Amina was nearly seven months pregnant when the militants began raining down gunfire. Since their home was surrounded by a �high wall,� the women lead the children out of the house toward the back and helped them climb over it. Unfortunately, however, given their own respective conditions, neither Charity nor Amina were capable of climbing the wall themselves.
�I was six months then, going on seven, and my stomach was big,� Amina recalls. She proceeded to search out a room in which to hide when she took a bullet to her leg.
Her sick friend dragged Amina into the house and found her a hiding space before finding one herself.
Yet to no avail. Amina�s gun wound left a trail of blood that her Muslim assailants were able to track easily enough once they overcame the compound. Kicking in the door to the room in which she was hiding, they began to attack poor Amina with�.machetes.
They attacked her with machetes.
Let this sink in: American leftists are apoplectic over the prospect of halting Islamic immigration to the United States, say, or�God forbid!�the expectation that �moderate� Muslims should denounce Islamic terror.
In glaring contrast, these same social justice warriors say nothing about the phenomenon of pregnant Christian women being awaken in the dead of night and butchered by machete and gun-wielding Muslim men.
Amina�s tormentors didn�t finish her off. They left her for dead and proceeded to rampage through the rest of the village. Charity found Amina in a pool of her own blood and tried to get her medical attention.
The problem, though, is that the motorbikes in the town had been destroyed by the marauders. Thankfully, however, Charity prevailed upon a Nigerian army patrol that transported Amina to a hospital.
Amina survived, and after four months, she was finally able to leave the hospital. Yet because of the immense blood loss that she suffered, she lost the baby that she had been carrying. Also, such was the severity of the injuries that she sustained that Amina to this day is incapable of walking properly.
Thus, she is unable to lend her husband and their family the financial assistance that she would�ve otherwise provided.
To make matters even worse, Amina�s family home and all of their possessions were destroyed in a fire ignited by their Muslim oppressors.
Amina expresses her gratitude to Voice of the Martyrs for furnishing her and her family with the funds that they�ve needed for her to get the treatment and provisions that she needed to recover from her attack.
Remarkably�but both unsurprisingly and uncommon for devout Christians like Amina who have lost virtually all to monsters who target them because of their faith�Amina has forgiven her oppressors. �I don�t have any bad intention against them,� she remarks. �Our prayer is that they should understand that what they are doing is not good [.]� She insists that she has �forgiven them� and expresses hope �that they will be saved [.]�
Notice: Neither Amina nor her family nor Charity nor, for that matter, any other Christian that has suffered so senselessly in theses bastions of virulent Islamic persecution declaims their persecutors as �infidels,� much less calls for their deaths.
Instead, they try to forgive them. And Amina, for her part, also admits to praying regularly �that in all of this suffering that I am passing through� God �will give me courage� to withstand anything �that�will tempt me to turn back from Him.�
Amina�s forgiveness, though, shouldn�t be interpreted as passivity. She is adamant when she claims that her and her fellow oppressed Christians in Nigeria �want the world to know that Christians in norther Nigeria are passing through persecution.� Muslims, she continues, �go and pick weapons and they hunt us in the night to take our lives, and they do all [these] things because of the name of Jesus.�
Amina concludes: �If we agree to become Muslims they will let us be, but because they see that we refuse, they keep on hunting us.�

A WRETCHED EXISTENCE: CHRISTIAN LIFE IN MUSLIM PAKISTAN .
On October 23, a deaf, married Christian woman was gang-raped after three Muslim men broke into her home while her husband was out working. Despite her screams, no one came to help her. Although one man was arrested, rights activists say he will eventually be released. According to Pakistani activist Sardar Mushtaq Gill, �Often in these cases the police take no action or, worse, side with the rapists. Christian families or witnesses are pressured to withdraw complaints.�
In fact, on October 15, eight days before the deaf woman was raped, two Muslim men, both named Muhammad, who had earlier raped two teenage Christian sisters at gunpoint, were acquitted in court. Not only did a key witness change his statement after receiving a bribe, but according to the girls� father, �The lawyer didn�t fight the case very well and with commitment. Mostly, he stayed absent from the hearings of the case during the proceedings. The lawyer didn�t even participate in the cross-questioning with the culprits in the court�. We face serious life threats from the culprits now, as they are being released from jail.�
Another report from October 5 cites three separate incidents in which five young Christian girls were abducted and sexually abused: Two were kidnapped and gang-raped by a group of Muslim men; a 13-year-old Christian girl was kidnapped and raped; and two other Christian girls were abducted and abused by a group of human traffickers who forced them into prostitution.
Nabila Bibi, a Christian woman who had been engaged to a Christian man for a year and was preparing to marry him in a few weeks� time, was abducted, forcibly converted to Islam, and then married to a Muslim man named Allah Rakha. After discovering her whereabouts, her fianc� went to the kidnapper�s home on October 15 and demanded to see her. Rakha, who had 15-20 other Muslims with him, refused, and warned the Christian that because his fianc�e was now Muslim, he must never seek her out again, or else suffer �dire consequences.� The report adds that such Christian abductees �may be subjected to sexual violence, rape, forced prostitution, human trafficking and sale, or other domestic abuse or discarded from home after passing some time.�
On October 23, Sonia Bibi, a 20-year-old Christian woman, was set on fire and almost burned to death after she refused to marry an ex-boyfriend, a Muslim. According to the woman�s testimony, when she turned down his proposal, Latif Ahmed sprinkled her with petrol and set her alight. Burns covered nearly half of her body.
On October 5, Saddique Azam, a Catholic teacher appointed headmaster at a primary school in a small village, was beaten and tortured by a group of three Muslim teachers who resented being under the authority of an �infidel.� The Muslims barged into Azam�s office and ordered him to resign. When he refused, they beat him so severely that he needed to be hospitalized.
According to an October 14 report, rights activists said they were concerned for the life of Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five who has been on death row since 2010. A Muslim woman, apparently with a personal vendetta against Bibi, had accused her of speaking blasphemy against the prophet of Islam, Muhammad. �She could be killed by any inmate or even a prison guard, so we have to be careful,� said an official. Bibi was put in solitary confinement, where her health has been steadily deteriorating. �She was vomiting blood last month and having difficulty walking.�
An October 19 report tells of a Christian family� a father, mother, and two daughters� who have been on the run since 2006. Their �crime� was that the woman, formerly a Muslim, converted to Christianity and married a Christian man. This prompted threats and attacks from Muslims, including her family: �Jobless and desperate, they are unable to meet their own needs, as they continue to be threatened, hounded, and attacked because they want to live a Christian life and raise their children in accordance with Christ�s teachings,� notes the report. Due to the stressful experiences and unsanitary conditions they are forced to hide in, the woman has miscarried their third child. The father was shot in the leg and run over by a motorcycle. Even so, �Attempts to file a case against their tormentors have fallen on deaf police ears.�
An October 23 report titled, �Christians required only as sweepers� notes that �Christians make up most of the non-Muslim minority in central Punjab and account for 1.5 per cent of the total population. Their representation in sanitation work, however, is above 80 percent.� After noting that Pakistan was named �Land of the Pure� in reference to its Muslim identity (as opposed to that of its largely Hindu neighbor, India), the report adds, �The attitude of forcing Christians into degrading occupations based on their descent continues and owes its existence to this long-entrenched dichotomy of �pure� and �impure.��
On October 7, more than 1,000 Christians gathered in front of the Punjab assembly to protest an �anti-minority� bill �that denies voting rights to women� and �does not allow religious minorities to elect their own representatives.� Religious minorities argued that a selected official �cannot do anything� except to �become a puppet in the hand of their party.�
These ten accounts from October alone are a typical sampling of what Christians, who reportedly make up roughly 1% of Pakistan�s Muslim majority population, routinely experience.
Worse, the majority of atrocities, according to human rights activists, never get reported for fear of reprisals. It took five years for the account of a two-year-old toddler who was savagely raped because her Christian father refused to convert to Islam took five years to become public. She has undergone five surgeries and still remains disfigured. Her family lives in constant fear and in hiding.
According to rights activist Gill, who is involved with many of the above mentioned cases, �Violence against women and children of religious minorities, the weak and vulnerable, is widespread in Pakistan and is often carried out in silence. These cases and the stories do not come to light and when victims talk about it they are intimidated.�
In light of all this, it�s high time for Pakistan to be labeled as a Country of Particular Concern by the U.S. Department of State. Otherwise, the crucial question remains: Why is it not?
UPDTATE: As mentioned, the above anecdotes were limited to the month of October alone. An incomplete list of the savagery experienced by Pakistani Christians in the following month, November, follows:
Sana John, a 13-year-old Christian girl, was kidnapped and converted to Islam by force in Haji Pura, near Silakot. On November 9, Muslim men stopped the girl while she was returning home from school and seized her. The Christian family was threatened not to file a complaint. According to her father, �In Pakistan there is no justice for the poor and, above all, no one cares for Christians, no one has heard my cry. The police do not pursue the culprits, no one is doing anything for us.�
A few days later, a Muslim family kidnapped, beat and left naked on the streets an 8-year-old Christian girl, as a way to �punish� her uncle for pursuing a relationship with a female member of the Muslim family. The Muslims kidnapped the Christian girl, named Parwasha, on her way home from school, after which she was stripped naked and beaten. When the girl ran home to her family, they went to local police, only to find that the Muslim family had already filed a complaint against the entire Christian family for �shaming� the Muslim family.
Another 8-year-old girl, Sara Bibi, was scolded, beaten and locked in a school bathroom by her Muslim head teacher for using the same toilet as Muslims. Headmistress of the school, Zahida Rana, locked Sara in the bathroom and then shouted at her: �You are a Christian, an infidel. How dare you use the same toilet as Muslim girls?� Despite vigorously pleading her innocence Sara was beaten and only released from the toilet 3 hours later at the end of the school day. The girl has since been expelled from the school.
A Christian activist, Aslam Masih, was shot in the legs by four Muslims in Lahore. The episode, says Christian lawyer Sardar Mushtaq Gill, �is a clear sign of intimidation towards our work.� Before shooting, the criminals asked him to withdraw a complaint that the police had registered. When he refused they opened fire.
A group of masked men set fire to a Christian broadcasting outlet, Gawahi TV, in Karachi. The building collapsed. Gawahi television was established in February 2013 in a joint collaboration between Catholic and Protestant communities, to �spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people of all religions who live in Pakistan.� As reported by the television website, about 12 million people watched it regularly. Despite many threats and many requests for security, police did not comply.

“Ms. Merkel Invited Me”: Refugee Sex Assaults Reported In Finland, Switzerland, Austria.
On Thursday, we got what appears to be confirmation that the �hundreds� of suspects involved in a series of sexual assaults on German women were largely of Arab origin. According to German media, many of the men were asylum seekers who had recently entered the country from the war-torn Mid-East.
The assaults occurred in the city center in Cologne, where eyewitnesses and victims say groups of marauding New Year�s revelers accosted women, in some instances making off with their belongings. Attacks were also reported in Hamburg, and Stuttgart.
Initially, the incidents received little media coverage but soon the word was out and the backlash from the German public was palpable.
Protests were staged in Cologne and opposition lawmakers lambasted Chancellor Angela Merkel for her open-door migrant policy which some say is destined to rip Germany�s social fabric to shreds.
Meanwhile, Cologne mayor Henriette Reker got herself into a bit of hot water by suggesting that German women have a responsibility to deter attacks by staying at �arm�s length� from would-be assailants. She also said Germany �needs to explain to people from other cultures that the jolly and frisky attitude during our Carnival is not a sign of sexual openness.�
Apparently, Germany isn�t the only country that needs to �explain� things to refugees. Reports now suggest that women in Finland and Sweden experienced similar assaults on New Year�s Eve by asylum seekers.
�Finnish police reported Thursday an unusually high level of sexual harassment in Helsinki on New Year’s Eve and said they had been tipped off about plans by groups of asylum seekers to sexually harass women,� AFP reports, adding that �three sexual assaults allegedly took place at Helsinki’s central railway station on New Year’s Eve, where around 1,000 mostly Iraqi asylum seekers had converged.�
“There hasn’t been this kind of harassment on previous New Year’s Eves or other occasions for that matter… This is a completely new phenomenon in Helsinki,� the city�s deputy police chief said. “The suspects were asylum seekers. The three were caught and taken into custody on the spot,” Koskimaki told AFP.
Apparently, the attacks were premeditated. “Ahead of New Year’s Eve, the police caught wind of information that asylum seekers in the capital region possibly had similar plans to what the men gathered in Cologne’s railway station have been reported to have had,” a police statement read.
And it wasn�t just Finland.
�Swiss police said several women were allegedly robbed and sexually assaulted in Zurich on New Year�s Eve, [in a] method ‘a little bit similar’ to that used in a spate of assaults in Germany,� The Herald Sun writes. �And it has now emerged that similar sex attacks were carried out in Austria, but police didn�t publicise the incidents �to protect the privacy of the victims��.
Yes, “to protect the privacy of the victims” – or to protect against the prospect that publicizing the incidents would trigger a bloc-wide backlash against refugees, because while it’s easy to say that the actions of seven individuals on a suicide mission in Paris aren’t representative of the millions of asylum seekers flooding into Europe from Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, it’s a bit harder to claim that apparently coordinated sexual assaults by thousands of would-be asylum seekers don’t say something about the extent to which integration may be, in Slovak PM Robert Fico’s words, “impossible.”
On Thursday, Spiegel released the findings of a German Federal Police report on the Cologne attacks. Here are some bullet points (translated):

Apparently, Germany is set to uninvite those responsible, as the justice minister said the country could deport some suspects. Of course identifying the culprits will be next to impossible. Here’s The New York Times:
The police have so far been unable to apprehend anyone, a fact that Wolfgang Albers, Cologne�s chief of police, attributed to the chaos in which the assaults took place, despite there being dozens of officers on duty in the area.
�The women were in a very difficult situation,� Chief Albers said in an interview Wednesday with the public radio station WDR 5. �They were afraid, they wanted to get away, and of course they did not notice any specific faces.�
In Hamburg, the police said Wednesday that they had received 53 complaints, more than half of them alleging sexual harassment, from victims age 18 to 25. They appear to have been targeted in a similar fashion in that city�s Reeperbahn red-light and club district on New Year�s Eve. Victims and witnesses in Hamburg also described the attackers as being dark-skinned or �looking Arabic.�
The New Year�s Eve mass-scale assaults, the police said, involved groups of several men taking advantage of the crowds to target young women by surrounding them. While several perpetrators groped the women, others picked their pockets, stealing wallets and cellphones.
Even if the authorities are able to apprehend suspects, they biggest challenge will be for victims to identify their attackers, given that several men appeared to have been involved in the attacks on each woman.
Here’s the latest from Merkel who, while stopping short of subjecting her own policy to criticism, seems to be changing her stance – if only gradually.
“Of course after what happened, there are several very serious questions which go beyond Cologne. Are there connections or collective patterns? Are there elements of condemnation of women?”
“We must vehemently work against that. I don’t think these are single cases. People have a right, and we as a state institution have the obligation to give the right answers to this.”
