As Europe collapses into recession, in Brussels it’s spend, spend, spend

Most people in Europe have probably noticed that things are not exactly tickety boo. In fact, as far as I can see there’s a bit of an economic crisis. But in Brussels our eurocrat masters couldn’t give a toss – we may be tightening our belts, but they spend ever more of our money on themselves – bigger salaries, bigger pensions, new offices and so on. Since just before the economic crash, spending by Brussels has gone up by 20%. But some areas have shot up – MEPs’ salaries and expenses up 30%: eurocrats’ pensions up 50%: quangos employing  the eurocrats’ friends and family members – up 62%. Our eurocrat masters are making fools of us all.
