By David Craig, on May 24th, 2013 To cheer us up in these dreadful times, here’s an entertaining example of a completely new branch of economics – Osbornomics.
Osbornomics is a unique combination of arrogance, deceit, stupidity and pomposity and is only possible because its founder is best chums with the PM. Like the disastrous, financially incontinent joke of a chancellor Gordon Brown, George Osborne has a degree in history, has never studied economics (though some people may see that as an advantage) and has never had a proper job in the private sector.
The Government wants to sell off the Royal Mail to get a bit of money so it can carry on spending £750bn a year while only taking in about £630bn a year in taxes. But there was a problem. The Royal Mail has £28bn in its pension scheme, but liabilities of £37bn. Who would be stupid enough to buy a company with a £9bn hole in its pension fund? Nobody. So the Government had a problem – how to make the Royal Mail saleable?
Our genius of a chancellor, former napkin-folder Baronet Osborne, and his half-witted advisers came up with a typically cack-handed solution. They have taken the Royal Mail’s £28bn pension fund money and added it to the Government’s assets. In doing so, they got £28bn more to spend and waste. Most of it will probably go into the welcoming pockets of the one million Romanians and Bulgarians who will start flooding into Britain come January 1st 2014.
Of course, by taking over the Royal Mail’s £28bn pension fund, idiot Osborne also made us taxpayers liable for the Royal Mail’s £37bn pension liabilities. In fact, given increasing longevity, the £37bn liabilities are probably an underestimate and the real figure may be nearer £50bn. But hey, who cares? That £37 to £50bn will be paid out gradually over many years. By the time our useless financial journalists realise what a cock-up the whole thing has been, multimillionaire Osborne will have long since left politics for a well-paid job working for a bank or two as a reward for allowing them to cheat their customers and evade tax for so many years.
First we had Brownomics – spend £100bn a year more than you earn while convincing our inept political and financial journalists that you were practising fiscal prudence. Now we have Advanced Brownomics, otherwise known as Osbornomics – keep on spending much more than you earn and fiddle the books to try to cover up your own incompetence. This chart shows the result of years of lying, bungling fools at Number 11:

But soon we may experience something even worse than Brownomics and Osbornomics – yes, Ballsonomics is heading our way.
Anyone who thinks this is going to end well is going to be rather surprised when their savings and pensions are confiscated to pay off government debt when our Government can no longer borrow on international markets.
The 2007/8 financial crash was a Sunday school picnic compared to what’s hurtling towards us at a speed of £120bn a year.
A few days ago I wondered why none of our political journalists had mentioned that the reason the British and French governments were hastily legalising gay marriage was due to pressure from the European Court of Human Rights. I now find it surprising that no journalist has noticed that grabbing £28bn of pension fund assets to land the taxpayer with an eventual bill of somewhere between £37bn and £50bn, is not a particularly great deal for British taxpayers.
By David Craig, on May 23rd, 2013 Following the horrific attack in Woolwich yesterday, the politically-correct Biased Broadcasting Corporation reported the crime and referred to it as a probable “terror attack” . But the BBC made no mention of the probable religious persuasion of the attackers.
This was in spite of the fact that the attackers were filmed shouting “Allah Akhbar” and “We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you” and “The only reason we have done this is because Muslims are dying by British soldiers every day”. That should have been a clue to the attackers’ religion.
But rather than mentioning the attackers’ religion, the BBC even produced one supposed “expert” who claimed “there are extremists in all communities”. That’s an interesting comment. Let’s test it.
How many Buddhist monks spend their time preaching that everyone who is not a Buddhist is an infidel who deserves to be killed, preferably by beheading? Um, none.
How many Church of England priests spend their time preaching that everyone who is not a member of the Church of England is an infidel who deserves to be killed, preferably by beheading? Um, none.
How many Hindu holy men spend their time preaching that everyone who is not a Hindu is an infidel who deserves to be killed, preferably by beheading? Um, none.
OK, let me try another angle.
How many Jewish rabbis spend their time preaching that everyone who is not Jewish is an infidel who deserves to be killed, preferably by beheading? Um, none.
This is getting difficult. Wait, I’ve an idea.
How many Catholic priests spend their time preaching that everyone who is not a Catholic is an infidel who deserves to be killed, preferably by beheading? Um, none.
Or, how many Chinese Confucians spend their time preaching that everyone who is not a Chinese Confucian is an infidel who deserves to be killed, preferably by beheading? Um, none.
So, I wonder what religion the atttackers could have belonged to. Could they have been Muslims? And if so, why did the BBC refuse to use the “M” word, when other news channels were quite clear about what religion the attackers belonged to.
There is clearly a case for reviewing the BBC’s activities to see why the BBC is so biased politically, what percent of programmes are actually “public service” broadcasting and what percent are just vacuous garbage (Snog, Marry, Avoid for example – in fact, most of BBC3) that belongs on commercial channels. Then the BBC’s £3bn budget and the cost of the TV licence should be cut by 5% a year for the next five years, so the BBC focuses on doing what its charter lays out rather than acting as an unofficial subsidiary of the Labour Party and a producer of trash for the most intellectually-challenged members of our society.

By David Craig, on May 22nd, 2013 Our great multimillionaire (daddy gave me lots of money) chancellor, the utterly clueless history graduate Baronet George Osborne pretends to be angry about the large companies he allows to avoid paying tax in Britain. According to Lord Osborne, tax avoidance is “morally repugnant”.
So, here’s a short (1 min) YouTube video of George refusing to explain why he avoided tax by flipping his home https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHhEyXj-mfU
But don’t worry – tax is just for plebs like you and me.
Oh, and here’s a video of Hitler ringing an Indian call centre when his Internet connection crashes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOZKLtIIUZE&list=PL751014BC83DD7643
By David Craig, on May 21st, 2013 Today I expose a massive lie by all our leaders.
You might have noticed an almost unseemly rush in both the British and French parliaments to legalise same-sex marriages (SSMs). What a coincidence that two major EU countries are doing this at almost exactly the same time!
But for those of us who don’t believe in coincidences, here’s the real explanation why both countries are hurrying to legalise SSMs – because their EU masters have ordered them to. But our lying, slippery, deceitful politicians are desperately trying to hide the fact that they’re acting under duress from the EU as this would outrage many ordinary people and stoke up even more resentment against our EU overlords.
Let me try to explain. One of the human rights guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights is Article 8 – “The right to respect for private and family life”. Just so you know “Private Life “ includes “relationships between homosexuals and their partners with or without children”. Thankfully, for the moment, “Private life does not extend to the relationship between an owner and his pet.” Though, that can change in the future.
The European Court of Human Rights has already announced that same-sex marriage would be a “human right”, as soon as a few countries had legalised it. The court found that “the recognition in national law of same-sex relationships had, by our present day, reached a degree that justified a broader understanding of family life as that term is used in Article 8 of the Convention”. SSMs are already legal in Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. Bills allowing legal recognition of SSM have been proposed, are pending, or have passed at least one legislative house in Finland, Germany, Ireland and Luxembourg.
The British Government is committed to “full implementation” of this policy no later than this June. That’s why a SSM law is being rushed through in several EU countries including Britain and France.
If the Government had not passed SSM legislation, then gays could go to other EU countries that allow SSMs and then come back to the UK and demand that their marriage be recognised. The ensuing legal challenges against the British Government and the resentment against EU interference in our laws that would inevitably follow would have hugely embarrassed our EU-sycophantic politicians – Cameron, Clegg and Miliband.
So, they all support SSMs, but don’t dare mention the real reason why – that this is being forced on them by their EU bosses. And when our leaders claim they’re legalising SSMs because “it’s the right thing to do”, they’re lying.
In France, they’re being fed the same lies. President Francois Hollande said “I have taken [the decision]; now it is time to respect the law of the Republic”. But was it the law of the Republic? Or was it the law dictated by the wasteful, corrupt, self-serving bureaucrats in Brussels?
Liars, scumbags and traitors the lot of them!
By David Craig, on May 20th, 2013 Here is the famous “Hockey Stick Graph” of global temperatures over the last 1,000 years, which the well-paid, well-pensioned members of the IPCC and the politicians use to justify bleeding us dry with “green taxes”, wrecking our countryside with pointless windfarms and destroying our economy with their futile attempts to reduce carbon emissions (click on charts to see them more clearly):

Here’s a view of global temperatures for the last 415,000 years – a slightly longer period than the hockey stick’s 1,000 years – based on ice-core samples;

Oh, look! Compared to several periods in the past, the earth isn’t actually that hot. And here’s a chart showing global temperatures have been flat for the last 13 or so years:

And here’s just one of the measuring stations the warmists use to support their thesis that the earth is warming:

As you’ll see, it happens to be positioned near the outside sections of two air-conditioning units. And, what does that mean? Well, these will keep the temperature measuring point nice and warm, however cold the winter.
And here’s sad-looking polar bear:

Of course he/she is sad. After all, due to man-made global warming polar bears, which have been around for 200,000 years, will soon be extinct, won’t they? Well, not exactly. About 30 years ago there were only around 5,000 polar bears left, now there are over 30,000. In fact, there are so many in some areas that there isn’t enough food for them all. The ever-increasing number of polar bears would be very surprised if you told them they would soon go the way of the dodo.
By David Craig, on May 19th, 2013 (As it’s Sunday, I’ll just show a couple of pictures)
In cartoons, whenever the main character goes rushing off the cliff, all goes well till they look down. Then there’s a huge WHOOOOOSSSH! SCREEEECCCCHH! CRAASSSSHHH! as they suddenly plummet down.
The economic situation is Europe is a bit similar. Here’s a picture showing the debt levels of EU countries:

And here’s a table showing the exposure of the main countries’ banks to the debt of other countries in $bn:

If just one country wobbles, hesitates and then looks down, banks go bankrupt and the whole thing crashes. That’s why no country will be allowed to leave the Eurozone. That’s why no country will be allowed to default. And that’s why, when the next major bank collapses, ordinary savers’ money will be “bailed in” – converted into shares in the bankrupt bank. For the politicians, the financial system must be saved at all costs, even though hundreds of thousands of businesses and millions of ordinary people will be wiped out financially in the process. We’ll be told it’s all for the “greater good”.
Cyprus was just the start of this new phase of the financial crisis. We are on the brink of a massive financial implosion. But, like a cartoon character, we can carry on running through thin air as long as nobody looks down. But when someone does look down – as they always do – then WHOOOOOSSSH! SCREEECCCCHH! CRAASSSSHHH!
The challenge for each of us is how to protect our businesses, savings and pensions when the inevitable WHOOOOOSSSH! SCREEEECCCCHH! CRAASSSSHHH! happens.
By David Craig, on May 18th, 2013 Sometimes, I look at the Graunida website. Today I saw an article written by a Graniuad journalist bleating and moaning about the fact that his house was burgled while he was at the cinema – no doubt watching a “worthy” subtitled foreign film https://www.guardian.co.uk/money/blog/2013/may/18/what-do-after-burglary
Why is the journalist complaining? After all, all property is theft. So a burglar is merely redistributing wealth from the haves to the have-nots. I thought that’s what Guardianistas were all about.
By David Craig, on May 18th, 2013 This is David Willetts, Minister of State for Universities and Science:

David Willetts was responsible for increasing university fees from around £3,000 a year to up to £9,000 a year.
This is a student drowning in debt:

You might wonder what’s so special about an overpaid, over-pensioned, expenses-grabbing Tory minister squeezing ever more money out of us plebs.
Well, this is a book that Mr Willetts wrote in 2010. It’s called THE PINCH How the Baby Boomers Took Their Children’s Future – And Why They Should Give it Back.

The key theme of the book is that the baby-boomer generation has lived beyond its means and saddled the next generation with massive debts. Willetts, who has become richer than most of us can dream of from more than 20 years troughing on taxpayers’ money in Westminster, proposes that the baby-boomers should make sacrifices so that their children don’t get crushed by the debts incurred by their parents.
So, what does Willetts do when he becomes a minister – he massively increases university fees and charges students usurious rates of interest (RPI plus 3%, I think) on their loans. Many of today’s students will leave university £40,000 or more in debt and may not have repaid this debt by the time they retire. How are they going to buy houses and start families?
Now, if Mr Willetts’ government had, for example, set a maximum public-sector pension of average earnings (£25,000 a year), then we would have saved so much money, that universities wouldn’t need to charge fees at all. University education would be virtually free, just as it was when Mr Willetts was a student. This would be a perfect example of what Mr Willetts proposes in his book. Ah, but that would mean our overpaid, over-pensioned bureaucrats and MPs making sacrifices to help younger people. Mr Willetts seems quite happy to propose his generation makes sacrifices, except when it comes to his own considerable wealth and that of his fellows in our overpaid, over-pensioned ruling elites.
And this year’s Nobel Prize for hypocrisy goes to…..wait for it…..yes, the Right Honourable David Willetts. Minister in charge of bankrupting people who work hard and want to get on in life…..the very people Mr Willetts’ government claims it wants to help.
(btw Willetts’ book is badly-written, self-righteous, pompous crap. Don’t bother buying it. Buy my latest book GREED UNLIMITED instead)
By David Craig, on May 17th, 2013 Every time there is a problem in Europe, our European leaders tell us that the solution is “more Europe, not less” – meaning the faster Europe moves towards a single unified Super-State, the better for all its citizens.
A few days ago, I posted some quotes about the EU and its inevitable drive towards a single, unified European Super-State ruled by greedy, corrupt, self-serving, unelected bureaucrats in Brussels www.snouts-in-the-trough.com/archives/5025
I put a shorter version in the comments section of a Times leader and here’s one of the reader reactions I found interesting and perhaps worth repeating:
“Thanks for this précis, it is indeed brilliant. If the British public ever do get a chance to have their say in a new referendum, the Europhile politicians and ‘commentariat’ will use every deception and scare tactic to manipulate the public into narrowly voting for the status quo on the basis of ‘better the devil you know’. David Craig’s précis should be plastered on giant billboards up and down the length of the country to remind us of the real narrative.”
(OK, sorry for singing my own praises. But I so seldom get the chance. Anyway, to continue the reader’s comment)
“I find particularly poignant Mikhail Gorbachev’s quote: “The most puzzling development in politics during the last decade is the apparent determination of Western European leaders to re-create the Soviet Union in Western Europe”. Do politicians never learn anything from history? Not just the Soviet Union but also the Austro-Hungarian Empire, both of which sought to force different nationalities, cultures and traditions into an imposed straightjacket. Particularly poignant in the case of Austria-Hungary, as we approach the 100th anniversary of an event in Sarajevo in June 1914, caused directly by seething nationalist resentment, that had unforeseen and outsized consequences for the world (not just over the ensuing 4 years).”
“Today, the Europhile establishment parade the EU as having kept the peace in Europe since WWII (wrongly, since this was NATO and the need for a united front against the common ‘bogeyman’, the Soviet Union) and repeatedly stress that what is required is “more Europe”. Yet, we look around Europe and witness the very public rise of the type of nationalist feeling that seeks to find scapegoats in foreigners. Greece, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Spain, Portugal – all experiencing a breakdown in trust for ‘mainstream’ politicians. Mrs Merkel may be many things … but Adolph Hitler she is not, yet I have been amazed at how frequently I have seen images on the Continent of her depicted as a modern day Hitler.”
“Lack of trust in politicians, combined with economic hardship perceived as being imposed and prolonged by foreigners, leaves a dangerous vacuum. We have seen this before and ignore it at our peril. More “Europe” is not the answer, it is the suicide pill.”
Of course, the current problems are not going to lead to another European war. But history has shown that there may be serious risks to democracy by imposing central, unelected control on different countries with different cultures and different traditions. The eurocratic elite don’t care as they have such huge salaries, expenses and pensions that they are all multimillionaires. But we plebs may be the ones to suffer for their eurocratic dreams of a single European superstate.
Oh, and here’s picture of one of Europe’s greatest troughers (oink oink)
