The River War: An Historical Account of the Reconquest of the Soudan is an 1899 book by Winston Churchill, concerning his experiences as a British Army officer, during the Mahdist War in Sudan.
In the first (2-volume) edition of the book, Churchill reportedly wrote:
“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity.
The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.
Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”
Given that Islam is a religion of tolerance and peace, that Britain’s Muslim population have provided huge multicultural enrichment to our country and that Muslims are currently massively improving educational standards in many schools in Birmingham, Leicester and other major cities, it’s clear that Churchill’s description of Islam must be totally inaccurate.
What should we do? Dismiss Churchill’s words as just reflective of the ignorance at that time? Or should the great and the good, who seek to control national opinion, demand that Churchill be classed as a racist and bigot and be stripped of all his honours?
I am very confused by this and hope the BBC will soon tell me what to think.
The reason this story hit the news is that someone called Paul Weston, from a fringe political party, was arrested and charged when he chose to read this out through a megaphone while campaigning in the EU elections. This was probably slightly provocative by Mr Weston. But in our obsession with political correctness, sadly we seem to have forgotten the famous quote commonly attributed to Voltaire, “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it“.

URGENT MESSAGE FROM PANICKING LIBLABCON RULING ELITES
We need to act now to save our once great country! Our multicultural way of life is being threatened by these patriotic British UKIP upstarts. They rampage around our constituencies wanting nothing more than a better life for British citizens and their families.
They want to put the interests of British people first above those of immigrants. They want us to leave the corrupt, wasteful, undemocratic EU where we British politicians and senior bureaucrats can get nice, well-paid, well-pensioned jobs. They want to impose their alien political incorrectness on us, stealing our electoral support and depriving us, the indigenous ruling class, of our right to stuff our own pockets and pretend to govern while really taking all our orders from kleptocratic, self-serving, unelected bureaucrats in Brussels.
Vast UKIP ghettos are springing up all around the country, creating no-go areas for the depressingly few party workers we have left. Moreover, they just refuse to integrate. Their ways are completely different to ours. They tell the truth, for a start. And they listen to the concerns of ordinary people.
Moreover, many of these UKIP fruitcakes and nutters believe that Britain should control its own borders. Laughable! And they don’t believe in the ludicrous, discredited myth of man-made global warming. They are even opposed to the wind-farms that we, the elite and our families, are erecting on our estates so we can siphon off millions more of taxpayers’ money for ourselves.
We’re fighting back. Our sycophantic poodle journalists in the press and the BBC try to smear UKIP at every possible opportunity. But every time we attack UKIP and call them ‘racists’ and worse, their share of the vote goes up. It won’t be long before even the fools who normally vote for us – our core supporters – realise how we’ve been lying to them and ripping them off for years.
The UKIP problem needs to be dealt with urgently. Because, at the rate they’re multiplying, it won’t be long before we of the ConLibLab Party become a minority in our own great (for us) parliament.
The political establishment is ours. We’ve all got stinking rich from our huge salaries, fiddling our expenses, paying our wives, lovers and children as supposedly working as our assistants and doing lucrative second, third and fourth jobs on the side, while being generously paid to supposedly represent our gullible constituents.
Help us keep our well-paid jobs. Help us run the country into the ground the way we always have. Believe all our lies and hypocrisies as we get rich at your expense.

By David Craig, on April 26th, 2014 It seems like the latest attempt by the panicking, self-serving establishment to smear UKIP may be backfiring.
I’m sure you know about the UKIP poster campaign. I (probably like millions of other people) haven’t actually seen the posters on billboards anywhere. However, thanks to the attempts by the establishment media to smear UKIP’s posters as being ‘racist’ and ‘ignorant’ and ‘offensive’, I (probably like millions of other people) have seen the UKIP posters on TV and in the press.
But while establishment politicians and their sycophantic journalist lap-dogs howl ‘raaaccciiiisssstttt’, it seems that the British public may not agree with them.

It seems like the majority of people agree with UKIP and not the establishment politicians and their media cronies.
UKIP may only be spending about £1.5m (a very small sum in advertising terms) on their poster campaign. But the attempts by the establishment to smear UKIP have given the party free publicity worth many millions more.
Another own goal by establishment politicians and their sidekicks as they desperately try to defend their positions and privileges against the ‘peasants revolt’ started by UKIP.
(By the way, I did an interview with a journalist the other day and she couldn’t believe that 9 out of 10 people reading this blog were so tight-fisted that they absolutely refused to show just a bit of support by buying a copy of my latest book DON’T BUY IT! I suggested to her that perhaps my readers were all destitute. But she thought there was another reason for readers’ refusal to show any support.)

Here is a bunch/pack/cacophony/herd of total fools (I’m sorry, I don’t know what the collective noun is for more than one fool all saying the same thing):
They’re all trying desperately to drag us into a completely unnecessary confrontation with Russia over a ghastly, undeveloped country about which most people in the West don’t give a damn and most probably couldn’t find on a map.
Then suddenly up pops Blair, taking a few minutes off from getting rich thanks to the generosity of foreign dictators and multi-national banks. (I won’t show a photo of him as I don’t want to make any readers sick). Blair then says what I, and many others outside the mainstream media, have been saying for a long time, Russia isn’t the problem. We should be putting aside our minor differences with Russian and working with Russia against our common enemy – this lot, our enemies abroad:

So, although it hurts to write this – “I agree with Tony”
Oh, and to end on a more cheerful note. Here are two important politicians. One is Tory MP Dominic Raab. The other is fictional Tory MP Alan B’Stard (played by Rick Mayall). But can you tell which is which?
By David Craig, on April 24th, 2014 A couple of days ago, there were stories in several papers about a new report suggesting up to 40,000 people a year were getting Acute Kidney Injuries (AKI) because of dehydration (not being given enough water to drink in NHS hospitals) www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/10778537/Thousands-die-of-thirst-and-poor-care-in-NHS.html
This report was touted as ‘new’ and ‘shocking’ and a ‘surprise’ and so on and so forth.
But hold on a minute. In 2007 (7 years ago) I ghost-wrote and paid for the publication of a book called WHO CARES? by a Midlands housewife, Amanda Steane. WHO CARES? describes in appalling detail how her husband Paul suffered kidney failure from dehydration in an NHS hospital; how a blood test showing he was about to suffer kidney failure was taken from his files so the hospital could avoid responsibility; how a whistle-blowing nurse sent Amanda a copy of the incriminating blood test which the hospital said didn’t exist and how, after losing a leg, his voice, the ability to breathe properly and suffering terrible pain, her 40-year-old husband committed suicide.
At the time, I got hold of an NHS report (which has since ‘disappeared’ from the NHS website) putting the figure of unnecessary deaths in NHS hospitals at 34,000 per year. So, this story is not new. In fact, since WHO CARES? was published possibly up to 280,000 patients have unnecessarily suffered from AKI in our wonderful hospitals which are supposed to be the ‘envy of the world’. Perhaps, supporters of the NHS should change ‘envy of the world’ to ‘envy of the Third World’?
If anyone wants to find out how the NHS really works, then just read WHO CARES? After the book appeared, Amanda received a flood of emails from readers describing how their family members suffered from poor care. Just 3 typical stories:
1. “My father went into the Victoria Hospital Blackpool with a stroke; I noticed on the weekend that his urine output had suddenly dropped to zero; I informed the duty doctor, who looked at me as though she’s trodden in something. They eventually got round to seeing him, but he died 36 hours later. He appeared totally dehydrated.”
2. “The biggest mistake I have ever made in my life, by far, was to allow myself to be convinced my GP that the NHS, beneath its crust of inefficiency, rudeness, and bureaucracy, may in fact have a caring heart and is competent. And therefore, I allowed myself to be convinced to abandon my plans for private treatment for one of my conditions and let the NHS do it.
The result was that as a result of their wonderful caring heart, the NHS gave me a disability which has destroyed my life, and now denies any wrongdoing, doesn’t care, doesn’t listen, denies that anything can be done to improve the situation and carries on butchering countless others. I hate the NHS with all my heart.”
3. “Eighteen months ago, a family member had a stroke. When the ambulance finally arrived, the guys were great, suggesting they drive over the border to the Chester Countess pronto, rather than a Welsh hospital. This was after much delay from the telephone handler going through a check list, and a First Responder needing to be on-site and seeng the patient, before the ambulance was authorised. Disgraceful – so much for the magic hour!
On arriving in the Countess, and although he ambulance staff were brilliant at trying to push the patient up the list, it took another hour for her to be seen by a doctor, due to the sheer number of people in A&E. To me, the staff appeared to be switched off – perhaps overwhelmed, or just not bothered. Some 6 hours later, she was on her way to a specialist neurological unit in Liverpool.
She lives today in a rehabilitation unit, at great cost to the Exchequer, her mobility impaired, unable to speak or care for herself. We believe that this is down to the Magic Hour being hopelessly broken.”

So, I have to confess, having spent time in Brussels writing my book THE GREAT EUROPEAN RIP-OFF and having experienced at first hand the greed, arrogance, venality and kleptocracy of the EU elites:
– I believe Britain should stay in Europe, but get out of the EU
– I believe Britain should control its own borders
– I believe Britain should decide who can come to Britain and who should be thrown out
– I believe that 46,000 people arriving to live in Britain every month is far too many for a small, crowded island
– I believe that Britain’s welfare state should support those who have contributed or British people who need help, not every piece of benefits-scrounging garbage from anywhere in the world
– I believe that the NHS should be a national health service not an international health service
– I believe that immigrants should adapt to our culture and customs rather than us grovelling to immigrant minorities
– I believe the BBC budget should be cut by 70% and the BBC restricted to making impartial news programmes, dramas and natural history programmes
– I believe we should get out of the European Convention on Human Rights and replace it with a British declaration of Human Responsibilities and Rights, whereby people refusing to accept responsibilities lose their rights
In spite of the fact that I speak several European languages and have lived and worked in Europe most of my life, I am apparently in the eyes of the LibBBCLabCon establishment a narrow-minded, little-Englander racist! If that’s the case, then I’m proud to be a raaaccciiiist!!!!!

As they try to restart the Cold War, our leaders would like us to believe that Russian activities in the Ukraine are the greatest threat to our way of life and the most important event this week. This may come as a surprise to Daily Mail readers, who probably thought that the dimensions of Ms Kardashian’s behind were the week’s most significant story.
But there may be a story that is even more important than the Ukraine ……….

How have we allowed this to happen to our country?
By David Craig, on April 16th, 2014 Since returning to the UK in 2005, after 20+ years abroad, I have constantly been amazed at the complete inadequacy of our leaders and their mendacity as they try to cover up their many failures. Moreover, I have been repeatedly shocked at the torrent of lies spewed out by the mainstream media. That’s why I started writing books – to expose our incompetent, undeserving masters and the gutless, shallow journalistic sycophants who serve them. If we could get anything like the truth from our leaders and the media, then blogs like this would have no reason to exist.
The elites lied to us about immigration, the Brown Boom, the reasons for the financial crash, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the real level in support for UKIP, the levels of corruption in politics and finance, the powerlessness of Westminster because of EU control, the reasons why bankers have been protected not prosecuted, what’s happening in the Ukraine, supposed Global Warming, their failure to regulate the energy market, the greed and arrogance of the elites…..the list goes on and on.
Today’s lie – inflation is falling, wages are rising and we’re all going to be better off. Amazingly, just before the EU elections and a year before the next general election, the Government and the usual journalists tell us that things are getting better and we can trust them to manage the economy.
Yes it’s true that CPI (Consumer Price Index) inflation may have dropped very slightly from 1.7% to 1.6%. But our masters seem to have totally and conveniently forgotten RPI (Retail Price Index) inflation. The main difference between CPI and RPI is that RPI includes housing costs.
Of course, our rulers don’t have to worry about housing costs as we pay for their housing. Moreover the more house prices rise, the more profit they make from selling the homes we bought for them or from the buy-to-let property portfolios they’ve built up using our money.
So, what matters for the rest of us should be RPI. And thanks to Osborne’s handy pre-election house-price boom, RPI is going up and is predicted to carry on going up (click to see clearly)
Perhaps one day, our leaders and our press will stop lying to us? Then bloggers like me can lay down our computers and use our time for something else? Or perhaps not?

I quite liked this comment left on yesterday’s blog about the ghastly Baroness Ashton “This stupid mare retires from her post as EU foreign minister (pause for titter) in October of this year. Will we all still be around to celebrate that? I don’t know if she pisses Putin off, but she certainly pisses me off. Perhaps we should all write to Putin and tell him that we do not endorse her stupidity?”
By David Craig, on April 15th, 2014 Here we go again. Our wonderful politicians and ever-obedient media are desperately demonising Putin and beating the war drums over the situation in the Ukraine. But let’s stand back for a moment and remember how the whole mess started.
Putin is being accused of meddling in the Ukraine’s internal affairs. But who is this? Oh look, it’s our very own Baroness Ashton in the Ukraine meeting the new government and preening herself in front of the cameras as she shows support for the people who overthrew the ghastly, kleptocratic but elected and Russia-backed government (click to see more clearly)
So who has actually been meddling in the Ukraine’s internal affairs? Putin? Or the empire-building EU?
If readers have the patience to wade through EU bureaucratese, here’s what has probably really got Russia riled up. These are just two of the clauses in the new security agreement that Ashton signed on our behalf with the Ukraine’s new leaders:
“ARTICLE 4 Aims of political dialogue 1. Political dialogue in all areas of mutual interest shall be further developed and strengthened between the Parties. This will promote gradual convergence on foreign and security matters with the aim of Ukraine’s ever-deeper involvement in the European security area.
ARTICLE 7 Foreign and security policy 1. The Parties shall intensify their dialogue and cooperation and promote gradual convergence in the area of foreign and security policy, including the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), and shall address in particular issues of conflict prevention and crisis management, regional stability, disarmament, non-proliferation, arms control and arms export control as well as enhanced mutually-beneficial dialogue in the field of space. Cooperation will be based on common values and mutual interests, and shall aim at increasing policy convergence and effectiveness, and promoting joint policy planning.
Ashton has offered EU military protection to the Ukraine’s new government against possible Russian action. That was dumb. Really really dumb. This would be like Russia signing a military pact with Spain, Greece or Scotland against the EU.
As she basked in the glory of the Ukrainian revolution, ignorant fool Ashton clearly had not thought through the likely consequences of upsetting Russia. Moreover, had she learnt nothing from all the problems in the former Yugoslavia or Iraq or Syria? When you overthrow strong government in countries with ethnically divided populations, you tend to get a civil war based on grievances that go back decades and even centuries. And Russia is not going to stand idly by if Ukrainian Russians start to get killed.
Now we’re all going to pay the price for arrogant Ashton’s stupidity.
It’s a pity our warmongering politicians and journalists seem to have ‘forgotten’ the EU’s role in starting the current problems over the Ukraine.
