Wednesday/Thursday blog
Here’s someone much wiser than I could ever be – and no, I don’t mean Piers Morgan
In my previous blog, I tried to show how the Russia/Ukraine war was largely the result of catastrophic misjudgement by and the over-inflated egos of our rulers.
I haven’t watched the video below to the end. But what I found interesting in Jordan Peterson’s explanation was how, once again, catastrophic misjudgements and over-inflated egos have led to the current Middle East disaster. Peterson focuses on the Abraham Accords pushed by the Trump administration and points out:
- why these were reviled by the Establishment purely because they were a success for the hated ‘populist’ Trump
- why Trump didn’t get the Nobel Peace prize
- why Biden was so small-minded that he didn’t continue with these as he didn’t want to accord any credit to Trump
- how Iran and its proxies have succeeded in sabotaging the Abraham Accords thus setting back any chance of a Middle East peace perhaps forever
But then I suppose you can look back at any historical disaster, for example WWI and its continuation WWII, and see these were caused by the egos, incompetence and stupidity of our rulers. However, when history is written by the victors, their catastrophic stupidity is inevitably and conveniently erased and they portray themselves as political and military geniuses. As for those forced into war and whose friends and family are mutilated or killed, they’re told they’re actually heroes and the whole episode is turned into a supposed national triumph.
So our useless, incompetent, self-serving rulers avoid all blame for anything. Such has it always been and such will it always be:
It was an interesting discussion and for once it was a civilised discussion, but there were no answers. I kept thinking of Eisenhower’s farewell address when he warned of the military-industrial complex. What is the point of the Abraham Accords when the USA is providing arms to both sides? I saw an article recently headed “All wars are bankers wars”.
Peterson mentioned that people living in a Totalitarian State have a duty to do something about it, but did not say how. I read a review of Natan Sharansky’s book on democracy and he said that democracy was the only way to peace. He however pointed out that Hitler gained power through democracy and that nobody did anything about it when he removed all the other parties. The USA and British “conflicts” in the Middle East were supposedly to fight terrorism and bring democracy. They made matters worse. It was easy to generate fear over covid and effectively create a totalitarian response to it and most people accepted it without a murmur. We are easily controlled.
They discussed propaganda and this is always present as with both world wars. When we discuss science we have a way to the truth, but with politics it is impossible. Morgan says he has seen evidence of the Hamas killings but I have seen nothing to know which side is telling the truth and I have found no means to access it. I have no idea what the truth is about this war. It is the same with the control that Israel has over Gaza. Why doesn’t Gaza have independent power and internet? I can understand that water is a problem and I have seen it said that Israel has a problem with water which is why it wants control of the West Bank. I have seen no convincing evidence about how Hamas broke through the wall.
I agree with their view about Jews being victimised for being successful and I came to the conclusion that it is why they have been kicked out of many countries in the past. It is probably why Hitler saw them as the enemy he had to create, and the first thing he took was their businesses.
Their discussion on social media and corruption of institutions was important. Not only is there a reduction in face to face discussion but news and fake news travels round the world too quickly and becomes approved by the number of likes. Opinions are converted into facts. I gave up with a Telegraph subscription because of unacceptable comments and the Telegraph failed to apply their terms and conditions. Governments like to create confusion and social media is a good vehicle for it.
Social media is the root of far too much evil!
I’ve just seen a republished document written by Michel Chossudovsky originally in 2015 “War, Terrorism and the Global Economic Crisis” which relates to this and saying everything is related, which is why it is so difficult to understand. It is at https://www.globalresearch.ca/war-terrorism-and-the-global-economic-crisis-in-2015-ninety-nine-interrelated-concepts/5497812
I also saw that Netanyahu gave a speech at the UN in September, https://www.timesofisrael.com/full-text-of-netanyahus-un-address-on-the-cusp-of-historic-saudi-israel-peace. He was taking about the “New Middle East” and the creation of a new corridor of peace linking India with Europe. It isn’t that long ago that the USA was talking about an axis of evil which seems a better description. He started by justifying Israel as the promised land and Moses leading them to it. He didn’t refer to the Tower of Babel and that God dispersed all the people and confused their language. Nor did he mention that they had to fight to possess the promised land and once again fought for it in 1948. Is that the best he can do?
Very good, I could listen to both Peterson and Sowell all day.
