Did Scorchageddon really happen?

Wednesday/Thursday blog

The great 2022 heatwave – Scorchageddon – has come and gone. One and a half to two days of hot weather in which thousands were predicted to die.

Some cynics have been circulating this picture which compares how weather forecasters used to present hot weather (map on your left) as something to enjoy compared to how they present it now (map on your right) something to terrify us all:

The Met Office forecaster said the picture has been doctored (Twitter)

So, how was your deadly heatwave?

Remember the 1911 heatwave?

I don’t because that was rather before my time. But here’s what happened:

The 1911 United Kingdom heat wave was one of the most severe periods of heat to hit the country with temperatures around 36 °C (97 °F). The heat began in early July and didn’t let up until mid September where even in September temperatures were still up to 33 °C (91 °F).

Perhaps you do remember the 1976 heatwave?

The 1976 British Isles heatwave was a period of unusually hot summer weather in the UK. At the same time, Britain and Ireland suffered a severe drought It was one of the driest, sunniest and warmest summers (June/July/August) in the 20th century, although the summer of 1995 is now regarded as the driest. Only a few places registered more than half their average summer rainfall. In the CET record, it was the warmest summer in the series until being surpassed in the 21st century. It was the warmest summer in the Aberdeen area since at least 1864, and the driest summer since 1868 in Glasgow.

The British government implemented water rationing to mitigate the impact of the drought

What about the 2022 heatwave?

First just a couple of issues.

Issue 1: First time Met Office has announced a ‘Red Alert’: we are continually told by hyperventilating supposed ‘journalists’ that this year was “the first time the Met Office has announced a Red Alert”“. Actually, given that the Met Office only started issuing heat warnings in 2021, it’s hardly surprising that this is “the first time the Met Office has announced a Red Alert”. It’s a pity our climate-catastrophist supposed ‘journalists’ don’t mention this when trying to terrify us about climate change

Issue 2: Airports: We were told that record temperatures were recorded at Heathrow. I know this will come as a surprise to Britain’s leading climatologists: airports tend to be hot places, especially a massive airport like Heathrow – huge buildings blasting out heat from their air-conditioning systems, planes taking off or landing about every minute, large expanses of runways reflecting heat and high levels of heat-producing traffic. So, to even mention the temperature at Britain’s largest airport as a sign of global warming is totally nonsensical. Moreover, I have a feeling that the supposedly hottest temperature yesterday was at a place called Coningsby. Though we weren’t told that this is a RAF base – again jet planes and wide expanses of tarmac would have increased the temperature. I believe Charlwood also had particularly high temperatures yesterday. Charlwood is a village right next to the Gatwick runway.

I also note that we were warned that temperatures would hit 42ºC and could even reach 43ºC. As far as I can see, nowhere, not even our busy airports, even reached 41ºC.

What we can say is that yes, record temperatures were reached in several locations. But these temperatures only persisted for one day whereas the 1911 and 1976 heatwaves lasted for several months. So, the question must be: which gives a better indication of our climate – one day of record temperatures or several months of unusually hot weather? You decide.

What about the wildfires?

Our media have relished trying to frighten us with apocalyptic images of wildfires as Britain supposedly burns:

But the same media are curiously incurious about how these wildfires started. Why were there so many wildfires on Tuesday and none on Monday which was almost as hot as Tuesday? Did a few grannies spontaneously combust on Tuesday because they didn’t drink enough water to keep themselves cool? Or were most of the fires started by worthless scrotes or even Extinction Rebellion activists encouraged by the predictions of record heat?

Thankfully some provincial newspapers like the Manchester Evening News cast a little light on this conundrum – most of the wildfires in the Manchester area seem to have been deliberately started by arsonists:

https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/it-beggars-belief-police-fire-24534913

Though we don’t know if these arsonists were just bored teenagers or environmental activists.

Similarly, the great wildfires on Saddleworth Moor in the height of summer 2018 were also started by arsonists.

It’s a pity that none of the national mainstream media have shown any interest in investigating the cause of these wildfires.

Tony Heller puts it all into context

Thankfully we have Tony Heller to help debunk all the climate-catastrophist hysteria being pumped out by our mendacious, mainstream media:

Well done for pointing all this out. Perhaps before bad news is broadcast there should be an alarm bell to warn us, after a while they will just have to ring the bell and we will all enter panic mode.

I did wonder about the sudden use of red on the maps. It reminds me of the famous glass tube and candle experiment devised by the BBC to illustrate global warming. They used a thermal imaging camera but did not tell us what temperatures the colours represented. All we saw was a candle disappearing but the dominant colour did not change. We were told the gas in the tube was getting hotter and it was believed.

How is it possible that at a time when our amassed knowledge is greater than ever that people seem more ignorant and stupid than ever before?

Just to reinforce the heat message, Google and Oracle cloud servers were shutdown because of the heat and quite a few websites have been offline.

The amassed knowledge appears to be concentrated in a very small proportion of the population and they are almost all afraid to speak out on any subject just the slightest bit “anti woke” for fear of having their livelihoods brought to an immediate and disastrous halt. Tony Heller for instance, although he does nothing more than comment on reports and graphs freely available to anyone who has the will or the wit to search for them, has been expelled from YouTube because that august media platform found discussion of certain facts unacceptable. Same for anyone in the medical world who dares to oppose the accepted mantra on the mRNA covid jab. Children throughout the so-called “advanced” world are now being indoctrined in the accepted woke ideologies in preference to being taught how to think. On the same theme of collective stupidity, just what was the Conservative Party doing when it got rid of Boris, about the only Tory leader likely to be able to win another spell in power? Does any Tory MP or paid-up Branch member really think that the globalist Sunak with his devotion to high taxation and his evident lack of empathy for those who are struggling financially, the uncharismatic Liz Truss with her total lack of appeal, or the policy-lacking Mordaunt who changes her stance on woke issues as frequently as she changes her underwear and evidently isn’t quite sure what a woman is, are capable of gaining an Election victory over Kier Starmer? The Tory Party has, as far as I can see, just committed collective suicide. Its only hope might have been Kemi Badenoch, whom the 1922 Committee didn’t even have the wit to vote through to the final two contestants.

The media would never let us know if the houses that caught fire are occupied by immigrants, as was the case with the great tower block fire.

Below is a link to Simon Webb’s take on the fires.

Dozens of mysterious fires start in Britain and are immediately blamed on climate change –

If proof were required that there is a co ordinated, organised plot, yes plot is appropriate,to frighten the population into submission for the great financial reset, this latest nonsense,Surely seals it.All,all the media, presented us with childish, alarmist and totally irresponsible headlines with what amounted to some summer weather. For gods sake, people pay good money travelling to destinations to seek it out.The Telegraph,to its shame, included an article by the Labour MP for Bristol SW,which showed an alarming level of ignorance, vacuity and alarmist from one in a position of authority. As I frequently do,I looked up the background of said MP.Interesting, nothing of a Natural Science background but the usual progression from new “university” to the NHS and then into Union office and Labour Party. This guy now holds significant position in Parliamentary committees.I know this is not really acceptable but even his photograph remind one of a used car salesman. How low have we Sunk?

BBC – ”A major incident was declared on Tuesday when more than a dozen fires broke out across the capital.” ”London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it was its busiest day since World War Two.”

Evening Standard 5th October 2021 – ”8,000 fewer fulltime firefighters in the UK this year compared with 2010. London alone has 1,112 fewer firefighters, 10 fewer fire stations and 57 fewer fire engines.”

If our leaders, from their actions, evidently don’t believe that there’s a hugely increasing risk to the public from fires, why should we?

  • Bad Brian

I was told by the son of a firefighter that the drastic reduction in fires in UK homes from the mid 60’s onward was mostly due to the introduction of OVEN READY CHIPS. That makes a lot of sense to me, along with the massive take up of gas central heating over the last 40 years.

These disposable Bar-b-Ques are a serious menace and people put them down onto park lawns without any thought. The scorched rectangle they leave behind takes at least a year for nature to grow over. They should be banned from our supermarkets.

I have also noticed that Easter Europeans have a tendency to build bonfires whenever and wherever it suits them to do so. If you call the police on them you will be asked what the problem is and face a barrage of exhaustive questions as to what the perpetrators are wearing, age, number and types of earrings, sex, children, numbers , gender, age, caravan description and colour, number of donkeys deployed etc, only to be told after ten minutes that nobody is available to nip round to the local park to have a word with Pieter or Sergi.

When these fires are featured on the news, young teenage boys are easily inspired to reach for the matches. I would wager that 50% of these fires are copycat incidents, caused by bored Teddy Boys who have nothing to do since their local Milk Bar has been closed. The coverage these incidents should be greatly curtailed by the TV stations.
