(Wednesday blog)
I hope all readers managed to take a couple of minutes to read yesterday’s blog about how many West-hating, deeply criminal, benefits-scrounging migrants can be fitted into one van. I believe the main reason the van crashed is that there was so much weight in the back that it was difficult to control at high speeds.
But it is quite amusing to see the flood of scientists, engineers and brain surgeons pouring out of just one van. Probably hundreds of such vans are flooding over Europe’s non-existent borders every day.
Socialists for sale
Today’s blog isn’t terribly earth-shattering. But I still found this issue mildly interesting. It concerns how many US politicians – including supposed ‘socialists’ – are on the payroll of big drugs companies.
There are 435 members of the US lower house (Congress) and according to the latest figures from the Center for Responsive Politics of these no fewer than 332 (76%) are getting money from the big pharmaceutical companies.
The US Senate has 100 members and an amazing 92 (that’s 92% for anyone who has managed to get a degree in stupidity from one of our left-wing madrassas formerly known as ‘universities’) of these are on the payroll of Big Pharma. (One might wonder what the other 8 have done wrong not to be getting their pockets stuffed with Big Pharma cash)
We all know that lefties and socialists loathe big business, especially Big Pharma which the lefties see as the Devil incarnate. So it’s interesting to see the list of the top 20 recipients of Big Pharma cash.
Here’s a link in case you want to look at the numbers in more detail:
https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/summary.php?ind=H04&cycle=2020&recipdetail=M&sortorder=U
At number 4 is ranting socialist Bernie Sanders. At number 10 is another lefty capitalism-hater, Kamala Harris. Then at number 13 is none other than our favourite self-proclaimed ‘native American Indian’, Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren.
Of course, I realise the sums of money here are pretty small beer. But this is just Big Pharma. When you add in all the cash flooding from from banks, oil companies, agricultural companies and many many others, the sums probably get quite meaty.
However, what this does show is that in the USA socialists are definitely for sale.
Here are the Top 20 recipients of Big Pharma money:

Thank you once again for some revealing information. As for “small beer”, I suppose to some champagne socialists such as Tony Bliar and his “I’ll give an after dinner speech for only £30,000” ‘ooman rights lawyer wife, it might appear as such. To those of us however whose retirement incomes have plummeted by around 60% thanks to fraud and some very creative book-keeping on the part of a major Life Assurance Company whilst under the not-so-watchful eye of Gordon Brown at the Treasury – well, we’ll happily take a cut please! Utterly deplorable, the lot of ’em! And that includes the fragrant Jo Swinson whose husband, we learn, recently received a £3.5 million donation from the EU for the charity he runs. No wonder she and the Lib Dems will go to any lengths to frustrate Boris and Brexit! Meanwhile they scream for Boris’s blood because he just MAY have expedited the attendance at some event a few years ago which no one cared a damn about at the time and had long forgotten, of a rather attractive young woman who just MIGHT have been just a bit more than a friend. Hypocrisy! Thy name is politics!
It is not a surprise. Socialists believe they must be supported by somebody else. If the state doesn’t provide they take the money where they can. They have no shame. The Russian socialist leaders and their friends have used it to become billionaires. China has done the same, both telling us that they are now capitalists. The corrupt African and South American leaders use the state as their private bank. British MPs all seem to have directorships lined up for their retirement. Politicians put their financial security before ours. We have to take the risks of investing in business to get our meagre pickings. The private companies get benefits because they lobby politicians to get good regulatory deals that benefit then, not the consumers. We have never had true capitalism where a free market exists to put consumers in control. We only have state controlled capitalism, which is just a small step from socialism. This is why our MPs do not want Brexit, because it reduces their power base. It is why they support the nonsense of a climate crisis, since this increases their power base.
That’s why, In the USA, even if you do have health insurance, you are just one really bad accident or one really bad illness away from bankruptcy unless you are fabulously wealthy. Medical bills apparently cause more than 60 percent of the personal bankruptcies in that country. Meanwhile, back in good old Blighty, another knife wound into the death by a thousand cuts of the English nation and people: TV shows will have to meet a series of diversity requirements to be eligible for Bafta awards under new rules. The BFI Diversity Standards, which cover race, gender and sexual orientation among other categories, are already part of the criteria for Bafta’s film awards and are now being extended to cover small-screen productions. The rules will be piloted in Bafta’s TV awards next year and will be fully introduced in 2021, the academy said. In addition, Bafta committees and jury members are receiving training in ‘unconscious bias’ in an effort to promote diversity.
