There may be a war on and soldiers may be losing their lives unnecessarily, but our MPs’ minds are elsewhere – focused on how to water down and mostly block Sir Christopher Kelly’s recommendations�for cleaning up the MPs’ expenses system. Some of the excuses we’re being given for not implementing the recommendations include ‘there’s a lot of work to be done’ and that ‘it’s very complicated’.

These, of course, are rubbish. Almost every company of any size has clear rules about what their employees can claim and what receipts must be provided. It would take a couple of days to adapt such rules for MPs. But I think we all know, deep down, that our thieving MPs will manage to block almost all the proposed reforms and then can carry on stealing our money with impunity. Brown, Cameron and Clegg should hang their heads in shame – but they won’t, in the House of Whores there is no shame.
