If you mention the word ‘hospice’, most of us probably think of wonderful local charitable institutions which deserve our support and whose employees selflessly do a very difficult job for probably quite modest salaries. We don’t think of bunches of greedy managers filling their own pockets with our money and building up nice big personal pension pots at our expense and at the expense of the patients they are meant to be caring for.
But if you look at how much of our donations to hospices hospice managers (anyone earning £60,000 a year or more) are grabbing for themselves, you might start to question the motives and the real or feigned altruism of those running many of our hospices.
A reader of this blog has helpfully looked at the Top Ten best-paid hospice management teams, ranking them in order of how much of the each hospice’s income is paid to managers.
For each of these hospices, the reader has detailed the Total Income per year: the Total Management Bill: the % of Income Paid to Managers: the Highest Salary and the Management Cost per Bed

As i understand it the NHS is not very good on palliative care and nursing staff have in some cases left people in extreme agony for hours by missing medication.
If you are diagnosed with something nasty say bone cancer http://www.dignitas.ch might be a better deal.
