By David Craig, on December 2nd, 2012 As the hopeless Tories recoil from their drubbing in the latest set of by-elections, our worthless, part-time, work-experience chancellor has had a brilliant idea for restoring the Tories fortunes – he is appointing Neil O’Brien from the Think Tank Policy Exchange as a special adviser. Lucky Neil O’Brien – getting a nice taxpayer-funded government job. Neil O’Brien may be a thoroughly nice chap, but he is a Westminster insider and the chances of someone like him coming up with radical new ideas are (IMHO) about as likely as me becoming the next prime minister.
I admit I have a bone to pick. Before the last election, I was invited to a dinner in London with such luminaries as Charles Moore from the Torygraph, Lord Wolfson, Claire Perry (one of Osborne’s advisers and now a Tory MP) and Neil O’Brien. The aim was to discuss new ideas for the Tories should they win the 2010 election. The food was average, the new ideas were completely non-existent with the attendees churning out the same old tired bollocks about less regulation and cutting red tape and other similar equally non-earth-shattering proposals.
However, at the dinner Claire Perry invited me to a meeting at Westminster to supposedly discuss some of my ideas for curing bankrupt Britain. I thought this could be my big chance – the opportunity for an outsider (not a Westminster clone) to give some input. Here I could propose thimgs like putting all central government departments on a 4-day week and all administrative quangos (like the pointless Equalities and Human Rights Commission) on a 3-day week saving £100m a week: abolishing Corporation Tax and replacing it by a retention of VAT so companies couldn’t use lots of tricks to avoid paying; no council housing for anyone under 25 years old: child benefit only for the first 2 children: a maximum public-sector pension of average wage (about £25,000 a year): immediate withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan: slashing foreign aid as over 90% is lost through incompetence and corruption: and why such changes should be put through immediately after the election to get the maximum benefit.
But from what I remember of the meeting with Claire Perry, she used much of the time broadcasting how intelligent she was. Well, we see the results of Mr Osborne’s and Ms Perry’s genius now – government debt that is out of control and can never be repaid, falling tax revenues, rising public-sector spending and a certain win for the lying scumbags (IMHO) Ed Miliband and Ed Balls at the 2015 election. I rather doubt Westminster insider Neil O’Brien will do much to change that, though he will bag himself a well-paid, taxpayer-funded job for a couple of years, so he’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.
By David Craig, on December 1st, 2012 There was an interesting article in The Register about a month ago describing how the now utterly discredited (IMHO) director of BBC News Helen Boaden has been (IMHO) trying to cover up which “eminent scientists” were at a BBC meeting where the BBC decided that there was no need to give balanced airtime to scientists who dared suggest that global warming was not caused by human activity but could instead be due to things like solar activity. A BBC report confirmed
“The BBC has held a high-level seminar with some of the best scientific experts, and has come to the view that the weight of evidence no longer justifies equal space being given to the opponents of the consensus [on anthropogenic climate change]”
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/10/29/boaden_tribunal_information_refusal/
Given Ms Boaden’s abject performance over the Jimmy Savile affair, it seems reasonable to doubt anything coming from the pathetically politically-correct BBC News – personally, I find Jeff Randall on Sky News much more interesting than the useless BBC and when I’m abroad, I find Al Jazeera much more reliable than the BBC.
Maybe it’s time to cut the BBC’s hugely inflated budget by 5% a year for the next five years and cut the BBC back down to its original purpose – unbiased public-service broadcasting.
By David Craig, on November 30th, 2012 For about 3 years now we have watched our euro-politicians’ increasingly ineffective and panicky attempts to stop the high-spending, corrupt, lazy, tax-avoiding Greeks from going bankrupt by throwing our money into the bottomless pit that is Greece. Yet at the same time 925 million people in the world are hungry and every day almost 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes. That’s one child every five seconds. If the Greeks can’t be bothered to work, all want to retire at 50 with full salaries and almost all avoid paying tax, why should we be wasting so much money on them?
There are two main reasons. Firstly our EU-leaders don’t want to accept that their great plan for a Brussels-based single European superstate run by unelected bureaucrats won’t work. So they are prepared to waste almost unlimited amounts of our money keeing their EUSSR dream alive and their own well-paid, well-pensioned jobs. Secondly banks in Germany and France have the biggest exposure to Greek debt. According to the Bank for International Settlements they hold $22.6bn (£14.4bn) and $15bn of Greece’s government debt respectively. These numbers soar with estimated private sector exposure – to $34bn for Germany and $56.7bn for France. Behind the debt are vast amounts of CDOs – complex financial instruments bought by investors from investment banks to insure the debt – adding another threat from default.
The real reason our corrupt leaders are so desperate to save Greece from its own profligacy is more about saving eurocrats’ jobs and saving French and German banks from their stupidity in lending so much money to the lazy, corrupt, tax-avoiding Greeks.
As for the 950 million starving and the 16,000 children dying every day of hunger-related causes – surely saving the jobs of Brussels bureaucrats and French and German bankers is more important than children’s lives?
Meanwhile, “lying, corrupt, expenses-fiddling, self-serving war criminal” (IMHO) Blair is doing the rounds giving speeches and interviews about how important it is that Britain stays in the EU. Why is Blair doing this? Because he cares about Britain’s future? Or because he still wants the job as EU president? I really don’t know.
By David Craig, on November 29th, 2012 You can level many criticisms at Obama – particularly the way he has allowed US debt to balloon out of control. But there is one issue where he is absolutely right – where America’s future lies. Obama has realised that Europe is a busted flush with its incompetent, corrupt, self-serving, mostly unelected leaders driving the continent into a seemingly endless recession while filling their own pockets with almost unlimited amounts of taxpayers’ money.
But most Asian countries are booming. Moreover, they have learnt from the failure of the EU. Asian countries are setting up their own free trade area, but without the 40,000 or so corrupt, wasteful politicians and bureaucrats that are destroying Europe. The Asian trade area will be about free trade and only free trade. It will not try to create the single totalitarian, bureaucratic state that we’ve allowed to build in Europe. Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has been credited with expressing surprise that Europe was trying to build the kind of oppressive monster that had so catastrophically failed in Russia.
Obama understands this and as soon as he was re-elected, he headed off for a diplomatic tour of Asia because that’s where America’s future lies. He didn’t waste his time on basket-case Europe.
Britain now has a choice – do we want to drown, pulled down by big-spending, unproductive, corrupt, wasteful, entitlement-fixated Europe or do we want to join the growing regions of the world – Asia and the US?
By David Craig, on November 29th, 2012 Since the Daily Mail scrapped its article about my latest book GREED UNLIMITED, I’m having real trouble shifting any copies.
So once again, I’d like to ask your help. If I can just sell one to two copies a day, I’ll eventually break even. It’s not a bad book and you’ll get more value from GREED UNLIMITED than you will spending your money, as so many millions of Brits do, voting for pointless rigged supposed “talent” shows like Simon “Slimey” Cowell’s The FIX-Factor.
By David Craig, on November 28th, 2012 Has our Government finally made one good decision? Instead of appointing Bank of England (BoE) insiders Paul Tucker or Charles Bean to be the next governor of the BoE, we have a Canadian Mark Carney. Like most commentators, I don’t know much about Mr Carney, but I do know about the uselessness, incompetence, bungling and lies that have been the BoE’s speciality for at least the last 5 years while Tucker and the appropriately-named Mr Bean were helping the buffoon Mervyn King bankrupt Britain.
What has the BoE achieved under King, Tucker and Bean? The greatest financial crash in British history: the wrecking of our pensions and savings thanks to quantitative easing: 5 years of monthly forecasts from the BoE on inflation and growth rates – every single one of which was wrong. Then the BoE has debased our money by inventing £375 billion to buy government bonds to keep our interest rate down so international markets didn’t realise Britain is bankrupt and can never pay off the debt built up by Brown and Osborne. And, of course, the BoE was behind the hopeless ‘funding for lending’ scheme which gave £80bn of our money to our banks which they didn’t lend – they just used it to boost their profits and to lower the interest they paid on our savings as, by getting taxpayers’ money, they didn’t need our deposits.
But while ruining the lives of hundreds of thousands of us, BoE boses have done very nicely for themselves amidst all the financial chaos – King will move on with millions of our money in his pension fund (over £5m I think) and in just one year, Tucker and Bean hugely increased the amount of our money in their pension pots by over £1m each: (see diagram – figures from BoE annual accounts)

By David Craig, on November 27th, 2012 Yesterday I wrote here about the local phenomenon of “flying farang” – Western men, often married to much younger Thai women, who suddenly jump (or are pushed by their Thai wives, family and friends) to their deaths from tall buildings. Most readers probably thought I was exaggerating. But glancing through the local newspaper last night, I noticed there had been another “flying farang” death. A 39-year-old German had taken the fastest way down from the 56th floor – not the lift.
Of course, there wasn’t enough of him left to find out if he committed suicide or was helped on his way. He may have really come to Thailand to kill himself. But let’s test a few hypotheses. He was from Germany – still one of the world’s most successful economies – so he probably had a reasonable job and no financial problems. Even if he looked like the back end of a buffalo and smelt as bad, he could have unlimited sex with stunningly beautiful Thai girls (boys or ladyboys). So why would he kill himself? Naturally, the police verdict is suicide. I’ve no statistics, but reckon there must be at least one “flying farang” a week – maybe 50 or more a year. That’s quite a lot of people mysteriously topping themselves.
I’d like to do a more serious blog today about politics and economics and life and democracy and freedom etc. But I’m in an Internet cafe surrounded by a group of extremely noisy and excitable ladyboys (not my friends by the way) loudly swopping stories about what they did last night and how much money they earned – often by drugging farang men and stealing their money, watches, mobiles and so on. Yes this was another story in the local newspaper yesterday – several ladyboys have yet again been arrested for drugging and robbing farang men and an employee at a pharmacy was also locked up for supplying the ladyboys with illegal tranquilisers.
If you want to have sex with a ladyboy (not my idea of fun) then please go ahead – but don’t accept a beer or drink of water before doing your business otherwise you may not wake up till several hours later and most of your belongings will probably be long gone.
By David Craig, on November 26th, 2012 If visiting Thailand, never walk near a high-rise block of flats where foreigners (farang) live. Otherwise you migh get injured if you’re hit by a “flying farang”. A “flying farang” is usually a Western man over 65 who has retired to Thailand and married a much younger Thai woman. When buying his flat (condo) the farang’s wife will probably have suggested he buy one on a high floor as “hab good view”. Then one day, the farang apparently decides to leap off his balcony and try flying without wings. Sometimes the farang will be helped on his way by his Thai wife, her real Thai husband, her brothers or cousins or just some friends. But whether he jumped willingly or was pushed, the police conclusion is always the same – suicide – especially if enough money changes hands.
Some farang take another route to meet their Maker – the heart attack. They travel to their wife’s village and sadly die from a heart attack. Sometimes the heart attack may be helped by being bludgeoned with some farming implement or having their throat cut. But the police verdict is the same – heart attack.
When Western men move to poor countries like the Philipines or Thailand and Western women move to Gambia or the Carribean in search of “love”, they’re essentially walking around with a huge sign on their back saying something like “I’m lonely, pretend to like me, give me sex, marry me, kill me and have enough money to live off for the rest of your life”. Sadly when you do that, it’s not unlikely you’ll find someone happy to oblige.
By David Craig, on November 25th, 2012 Osborne is preparing his Autumn Statement. He’ll probably say that his deficit reduction plan is ‘broadly on course’ and would have been fine if the Eurozone had not imploded. Labour will of course claim the Government is cutting too far too fast. And the usual political and economic commentators will come out with their usual blether and everything will carry on as before.
What is wrong with you Brits? Is your education system so bad now, thanks to the teachers’ unions’ allergy to proper teaching, that none of you can do simple arithmetic? Let me try to help. When Osborne became chancellor, the UK’s debt was about £700bn. By the 2015 election, debt will be almost £1.5trn. Osborne has cut sweet f…. a… He has borrowed over £140bn per year more than the utterly incompetent, financially incontinent Labour.
Politicians shouldn’t be arguing about whether to cut £20bn or £30bn or whatever – they should be talking about how to cut public spending by £140bn. And even if a government could actually eliminate the deficit and start paying our debt back at say £8bn a year, then it would take over 100 years just to pay back the money Osborne has borrowed to bring the country back to where it was in 2010 and another hundred years to pay off our national debt. We are bankrupt! Broke! Finished! This parrot is not pining for the fjords – it is dead, well and truly dead. Probably around the time of the next election, there will be a massive economic collapse as our borrowing costs shoot up, the value of the pound will fall by another 30% and whatever government we have will be forced into almost unimaginable cuts in spending and tax increases that will plunge Britain into a Greece/Spain recessionary downward spiral.
So what do our leaders do? Loot as much of our cash for themsleves as the ship goes down. Our MPs are now claiming over £30,000 a year each more in expenses that they did before the MPs’ expenses scandal broke and are planning to increase their own salaries from £65,700 to over £85,000. The Lords have changed their expenses system so they can claim over £50,000 a year each in expenses without ever doing any work and without ever spending any money. At the BBC, in the NHS, in the military and in many other government departments top bosses are awarding themselves hundreds of thousands of pounds each to ‘retire’ and then many are coming back to work the next day as ‘consultants’. Since the 2007 crash our useless regulators – FSA, Ofwat, Ofgem and many others – have doubled the amount of our money they take for themselves. Meanwhile about five million Brits can’t be arsed to get an education or job because they earn much more on benefits than they ever could working.
At the next election most people will vote Labour so the borrowing and spending can continue as before. Well I have news for you – it can’t and it won’t, whatever Miliband and Balls promise. The real crash is coming and it’s going to be very ugly indeed. Prepare for years of social unrest, riots, strikes – the future isn’t bright, but none of our leaders have the courage to admit this.
By David Craig, on November 24th, 2012 Stupid, intolerant people often complain about the Islamification of Britain and about Sharia Law slowly creeping into our society as members of the Muslim community turn to their imams to sort out legal issues rather than to the UK authorities. But what’s the problem? Let’s be more welcoming to our Muslim guests. If they want Sharia Law for Muslims, let them have it.
For a start, any Muslim caught stealing would have a hand amputated. If caught again, chop chop as the other hand goes. As for any Muslim committing adultery – stoning to death is the only possible sentence. And for any Muslim who commits blasphemy by criticising any single word written in the Koran – well, once again, it’s time so start throwing stones. And should any girl be sentenced to death while still a virgin, naturally she would have to be raped before being killed as Sharia Law (as practised in the beautiful tolerant Iran) apparently forbids the execution of virgins.
Then there’s female genital mutilation (FGM). Although this is not actually mentioned in the Koran, many highly-respected Muslim scholars have insisted this is a key aspect of living a proper Muslim life – so, lots of FGM too.
In Britain, we need to be more open-minded about the admirable customs and traditions of those who come to settle here, often to live comfortable lives on benefits paid for by us. So as for Sharia Law – bring it on. There would certainly be a fall in crime.
