By David Craig, on February 2nd, 2014 Recent revelations have shown us that our good honest police (probably encouraged by the politicians) have been fiddling the crime figures for years to make it look like crime is falling, when it actually may be spiralling out of control.
I’m no statistician, but I’ve been playing around with the figures the police do report (which hugely underestimate the real level of crime) and come up with some quite unpleasant conclusions.
Even if we were gullible enough to believe the police’s fiddled figures, that would still give us about 2,961,776 crimes committed in England and Wales each year. Here are the main categories of these 2,961,776 crimes (click to see more clearly)

This means that an incredible 56,957 crimes are committed in England and Wales each week:

This is almost terrifying – over 1,000 sex offences each week, over 8,000 vehicle crimes, about 10,000 burglaries a week and an astonishing 15,800 violent crimes each week.
Maybe it’s time to buy some awfully good insurance.
By David Craig, on February 1st, 2014 This is just a small story from Poole in Dorset. But I believe it reflects what is happening all over Britain. The rights of those who obey the law, work and pay taxes are being trampled into the dirt as political correctness leads our masters to grovelingly give in to the “rights” of violent, criminal, benefits-scrounging parasites who refuse to obey the law and refuse to contribute anything to society.
At a time when they’re cutting services to people who live in the area, Poole Council has just voted to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds setting up two permanent sites for supposed “travellers”. The reason they’re doing this is because if they don’t, the travellers will come here anyway and just set up illegal sites. So, instead of enforcing the law and clamping down on illegal sites, the Council gives in to people who break the law. (click on picture to see more clearly)

I’ve only come across travellers once – when my wife and I were out cycling one Sunday. It was an absolutely terrifying experience.
The reaction of one resident to Poole Council’s decision probably sums up how millions of us feel (impotent rage?) as we see our taxes being squandered on the worthless, the criminal, the spongers and the disruptive:
“Tonight’s decision was the wrong one! Last time the gypsies came to Creekmoor, crime rose by 78%. My sister, a single mother in the area, was scared for her safety as each evening she heard gunshots from the illegal camp. Furniture and other items were stolen from neighbours’ gardens and the local farmer’s field was left in a mess.
This will not benefit anyone in Poole – this proposed site is on the main thoroughfare into the town from the west – what does that say to tourists when they see travellers as they come into the town? Let me also make it clear that this is not a ‘temporary’ site. This is permanent and ongoing. We have been told by our local councillors that phase one will include 12 pitches, and the next phase more than 20 (something they omitted from this evening’s meeting.)
This will cost Poole tax payers more than £250,000, with further money being required to maintain the site in the coming years, a crazy move when we have just been told that our bus service is being cut by £100,000 as Poole Council have insufficient funds!!! Poole already has a permanent traveller facility at Mannings Heath which was smashed and ruined. Poole is already doing more for the gypsy community than others.
This site will prevent the fire service from further expansion, local businesses will block their car park access for their protection and will subsequently close the agreed access for the fire brigade to cut across to Creekmoor and Broadstone, increasing callout times by 3 minutes. This evening was a perfect display of scared councillors passing the buck, with the attitude of “it’s not in my ward, so we’ll vote for it to ensure it never is”.
The most insulting thing of all, is that the local residents were never consulted, despite telling the press to the contrary. Is it legal to press ahead with proposals like this without consultation? We live in an era of democracy, but have fallen far from that tonight!”
By David Craig, on January 31st, 2014 I’m not sure if I’ve already used this. It’s a song reportedly sung at a McKinsey consultants’ Christmas party (to the tune of Hark The Herald Angels Sing) (click on picture to see more clearly)
If you aim to get the best result
And maximum performance you want to see
Then you really should consult
A Management Consultancy
McKinsey management consultants are we
We take all our clients’ money
We can earn many a million
Because our clients have no vision. (Repeat last two lines as chorus)
If Process Redesign is what you will
And you think it’ll make a success of all you do
Then rely on us to send you a bill
While we redesign your processes for you.
We are from McKinsey – young, bright and flash
We take mountains of our clients’ cash
We win lots of new clients rich and fine
When we go round flogging Process Redesign (Repeat last two lines as chorus)
We’ve got handouts and we’ve got flip charts
And dazzling PowerPoint presentations
And we blow clients away
With our brilliant explanations.
We are McKinsey’s little lackeys
Telling clients they’re in trouble is just one of our strategies
Our language is smart and makes our clients ill-at-ease
It’s what we call ’Consultantese’. (Repeat last two lines as chorus)
The culture at ……. is a real dead weight
But we crush resistance before it grows
We’re used to organisations in a dreadful state
Because, of course, we are Pros!
We are McKinsey’s real hard core
We are the ones who’ll win the war
Now we’re going to party and have fun because
Cheers! We’ve just got our bonuses from Santa Claus. (Repeat last two lines as chorus)
*I have reported this song as best as I can, considering the circumstances in which I came across it
By David Craig, on January 30th, 2014 Not much response to my simile competition yesterday (you can see the suggestions by clicking on the title of yesterday’s post). So I’ll deal with something a bit more serious today – yet another rather nasty side-effect of immigration that the politicians and bien pensants in the media don’t seem keen on mentioning.
If you managed a First Division football team, you would not let all your best players leave and replace them by players from the 7th division, most of whom probably don’t even understand the offside rule. Right? That would not be sensible, would it?
Now, say you ran a First World developed country, would you let the most talented and productive people leave and replace them by people with lower skill levels or who are just uneducated spongers? Not if you wanted to remain a First World country. Only if you wanted to turn Britain into yet another Third World hell-hole.
Yet that’s what our masters are doing. I had always assumed that most people emigrating from Britain were pensioners off to Spain, Italy or France. I could not have been more wrong. Yesterday I found a Home Office analysis of the 350,000 or so people emigrating from Britain each year and it turns out that only about 7,000 at most are retirees (it varies between 4,000 to 8,000 a year). The other 343,000 are mostly of working age (there are few dependents). Moreover, most of those emigrating are highly educated, professional or clerical workers. Whoops!
So then I tried to work out what we’re getting in return for the 343,000 productive people leaving each year. Immigration is running (officially) at about 550,000 a year. Unemployment amongst those who have been in Britain up to a couple of years is probably around 30% (I suspect it’s actually much higher – for example, amongst Britain’s wonderful Somali community economic inactivity is more like 80%).
So then I crunched some numbers and came up with this (click on picture to see more clearly)

It seems that we’re losing around 343,000 productive, skilled people every year and about 7,000 self-sufficient retirees. In return, we’re taking in around 550,000 (a truly incredible 10,000 a week) of which 385,000 may find jobs and 165,000 will live off benefits probably for their whole lives.
On my chart, I’ve classed the 385,000 who will find work as “self-sufficient”. But this is probably not true as many will be in low-paid jobs and so will take much more in tax credits and services than they pay in. As for the 165,000 who won’t work, if each of these is costing us about £20,000 a year in benefits, housing, healthcare, schooling for their children and so on, then each year we’re importing a cohort of people who will cost us about £3.3bn a year every year. Every 5 years we’ll import 835,000 costing us £16.5bn a year and so on. No wonder we can’t afford to provide decent pensions and healthcare for British people who have worked and paid taxes all their lives.
Of course, my figures are rough estimates as the Government would never give us the real figures. But I’m probably not far wrong.
Moreover, if you read the quote on the picture from the Home Office report, you’ll see a deeper problem. Those leaving Britain are on average much more highly educated and skilled than those who arrive. So we’re allowing our best players to leave and replacing them by less capable, less productive new arrivals.
That is not a terribly smart thing to do if we wish to remain a competitive, productive First World country.
By David Craig, on January 29th, 2014 Following a comment made by a reader yesterday, I was wondering if I could lighten the mood during this miserable, cold, wet winter by running a little simile competition.
The reader wrote “Putting Ed Balls in charge of the economy is like putting the Yorkshire Ripper in charge of a woman’s hostel“.
So, would any readers like to complete the following phrase ? “Putting Ed Balls in charge of the economy is like……………………”
I was going to suggest “Putting Ed Balls in charge of the economy is like putting Jimmy Savile in charge of Broadmoor”. But then I realised we’d already done that. So it wasn’t really a simile, it was a Tory Government decision.
Then I thought of: “Putting Ed Balls in charge of the economy is like making committed socialist Ed “Climate Change” Miliband Prime Minister”. But then I realised that the great British electorate in its collective wisdom will probably do that in about 15 months. So, that doesn’t count either
Click on the title of this post to leave your suggestions. I’ll post all the best suggestions tomorrow.
Oh, and by the way, the title of my next book has been confirmed as DON’T BUY IT! and the subtitle “The tricks and traps salespeople use and how to beat them”. The promised £100 has already been paid to the charity suggested by the lucky winner. Let’s hope I sell sufficient books to earn the £100.
Finally, here’s the talk I’ll be giving in London on 24 February. Do come along if you can.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
David Craig spent most of his career selling for some of the world’s best and worst management consultancies. After writing two whistleblowing books, Rip-Off and Plundering the Public Sector, about how consultants take millions from businesses and government departments while delivering little of value, he was blacklisted and so left the profession. Since then he has written several books about government incompetence, stupidity and waste, including Squandered: How Gordon Brown is wasting over one trillion pounds of our money and Fleeced: How we’ve been betrayed by politicians, bureaucrats and bankers, both of which won the Hammond Whiteley journalism award.
His most recent book, Don’t buy it! The tricks and traps salespeople use and how to beat them, has just been published.

By David Craig, on January 28th, 2014 Labour have done it again – completely outsmarted the useless flounderer Cameron and the Tories. First it was Labour’s (undeliverable but electorally powerful) promise to freeze electricity bills. Now it’s their pledge to “squeeze the rich” by imposing a 50p tax rate on those earning more than £150,000. Both promises have been hugely popular with voters.
Meanwhile the Tories and their supporters have been howling in fury claiming that Labour’s 50p tax on incomes over £150,000 will “stifle entrepreneurs” and “wreck the recovery” and “force talent to leave Britain” and “destroy thousands of jobs”. These claims are so totally, transparently and laughably untrue, that they’ve only served to reinforce the view amongst many voters that Labour (in spite of their appalling economic management during their 13 years in power) are the party which represents their interests against the greed and arrogance of the ruling elites.
By their histrionic over-reaction to Balls’s announcement, the idiotic Tories and their equally stupid supporters in the business community have just done the equivalent of jumping up in the air in fury while simultaneously kicking themselves in the balls – an acrobatic feat that is quite difficult and presumably painful if achieved.
As far as I can see, the rise in the top rate of tax from 45p under the Coalition to 50p for incomes over £150,000 under Miliband is so negligible that the Tories should have just shrugged it off. For a start, the 50p tax rate only kicks in on that income which is above £150,000. The first £150,000 of income will still be taxed at 20% for the first £31,865 and then at 40% from £31,866 to £150,000. It’s only on income above £150,000 that the tax rate will rise from the current 45% to 50%. This means that someone earning £200,000 a year will have to pay an extra £2,500 (about £50 a week) in income tax. Big deal?!? And anyway, most people earning over £150,000 will find a way not to pay the increased tax.
But the Tory and business establishment’s furious denunciation of Balls’s political (not economic) promise of this tiny rise in taxes for a tiny proportion of the income of a tiny section of the population has just served to discredit those who howl the most.
When the Tories are so out-of-touch with how most people live and so electorally incompetent, can anything stop Miliband and Balls winning the next election?
By David Craig, on January 27th, 2014 A reader sent me this story. It seems to be from mid-2011. I’ve found it on many blogs but haven’t been able to find a mainstream media report which confirms this, so I don’t know if this is fully accurate. But it sounds plausible.
The Netherlands, where 6% of the population is now Muslim (in the UK it’s just over 4% but rising fast), is scrapping multiculturalism.
The Dutch government says it will abandon the long-standing model of multiculturalism that has encouraged Muslim immigrants to create aparallel society within the Netherlands.
A letter accompanying a new integration bill, which Dutch Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner presented to parliament on June 16 2011, reads: “The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people”.
In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society play a central role. With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society.
The letter continues: “A more obligatory integration is justified because the government also demands that from its own citizens.”
It is necessary because otherwise the society gradually grows apart and eventually no one feels at home anymore in the Netherlands. The new integration policy will place more demands on immigrants.
For example, immigrants will be required to learn the Dutch language, and the government will take a tougher approach to immigrants who ignore Dutch values or disobey Dutch law.The government will also stop offering special subsidies for Muslim immigrants because, according to Donner; “It is not the government’s job to integrate immigrants.”
The government will introduce new legislation that outlaws forced marriages and will also impose tougher measures against immigrants who lower their chances of employment by the way they dress. More specifically, the government imposed a ban on face-covering, Islamic burqas as of January 1, 2013.
Holland has done that whole liberal thing and realized – maybe too late – that creating a nation of tribes will kill the nation itself.
The future of Australia, the UK and Canada may well be read here.
Countries like Holland, Canada, the UK and Australia have an established way of life that actually works, so why embrace the unworkable? If immigrants do not wish to accept another culture, the answer is simple….
This gives a whole new meaning to the term; ‘Dutch Courage’ – Unfortunately Australian, UK, and Canadian politicians don’t have the … guts to do the same.
By David Craig, on January 26th, 2014 We all know that the NHS is under pressure. Obviously there are many causes. One is the culture of bureaucracy, incompetence and waste of NHS management. For example, in 1997 the NHS had about 200,000 beds and around 25,000 managers (around 8 beds per manager). Now there are only about 144,000 beds and over 40,000 managers (around 3.6 beds per manager). This equates to a 55% drop in managerial efficiency in 17 years – an incredible 3.2% fall in managerial efficiency every year. Funny none of our politicians mention this.
Moreover, even though I wrote two chapters in my 2006 book PLUNDERING THE PUBLIC SECTOR about why the NHS computer system would fail and even had a meeting with Sir John “Junket” Bourne former head of the National Audit Office warning him of the impending disaster, the NHS ploughed vainly ahead wasting maybe £6bn of our money before the worthless, hopelessly-managed exercise in futility was finally abandoned.
Then there’s immigration. The arrival of around 7 million people in just 17 years has hugely increased demand for NHS services. Moreover, many of these people come from countries with poor healthcare and so are perhaps more eager than native Brits to take full advantage of free NHS services. Added to this there are language and cultural problems which make dealing with many of these new arrivals much more time- and resource-consuming than dealing with native British citizens. This is something our leaders also choose not to mention.
But the real taboo concerns the relationship between race and culture and various diseases. It’s known, for example, that a quarter of a million people in England have the sickle cell trait; most of whom have African-Caribbean ancestry. Having the sickle cell trait itself will not cause a person to develop sickle cell anaemia. But if two people with the trait conceive a child, then there is an astonishingly high one in four chance that child will be born with sickle cell anaemia.
It’s also known that because of their genes, people from India and Pakistan, will have much worse reactions to some treatments like chemotherapy than patients from other races and so will require longer hospitalisation and more expensive care.
And we know that the over two million South Asian people (India, Bangladesh and Pakistan) and their descendants who have settled in the UK are 4 times more likely to develop Type 2 Diabetes than the indigenous populations, in addition to much higher levels of ischaemic and cardiovascular heart disease and premature atherosclerosis.
And we know that marriage between first cousins triples the chance of having a baby with potentially life-threatening birth defects. One study of nearly 11,000 births in a large British Pakistani community between 2007 and 2011 (reported in the politically-correct Guardian and the Independent), indicated that more than 2,000 babies were born to first cousin parents and 6% of these (120) had a congenital abnormality. Amongst the wider Pakistani community, the incidence was 3% (due to marriage between close relatives) compared to about 2% amongst the indigenous population.
On the other hand, people from Muslim communities are unlikely to have alcohol-related problems and unlikely to clog up our A&E units with drunks every Friday and Saturday night, unlike the indigenous population in many British towns.
As for obesity (the underlying cause of many health problems), Afro-Caribbean men are much less likely to be obese than the general population, while Indian and Pakistani men are more likely to be obese. Amongst women, Afro-Caribbeans, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are more likely to be obese than the general population, whereas Indian women are less likely. Levels of obesity among Chinese immigrants, on the other hand, are much lower than the overall population.
It is clear that many immigrants, particularly from poorer countries, will have been exposed to a wider range of viruses which can trigger certain diseases like cancer, have genes which make them more vulnerable to some medical conditions or else will have cultural practices which increase the demands placed upon the NHS.
How can we have a reasoned and sensible debate about immigration, if we pretend (in the interests of political correctness) that this situation doesn’t even exist?
By David Craig, on January 23rd, 2014 I will be giving a talk for the Economic Research Council (ERC) on Monday 24 February.
The talk will be called “THE GREAT SAVINGS AND PENSIONS SCANDAL…and how to protect your money”. In the talk I will expose how the sales messages and methods used by financial services insiders to get us to put our money into things like banks, shares, unit trusts, pensions, annuities and equity release schemes are almost always misleading and usually based on blatant lies.
The talk will be at the ROYAL OVERSEAS LEAGUE, Park Place, St. James’s Street, London, SW1A 1LR. This is a beautiful old building just off Piccadilly, behind the Ritz and overlooking Green Park.
There are drinks and networking from 18.30h to 19.00h. The talk is from 19.00h to 19.30h and then there’s a Q&A from 19.30h to 20.00h.
If you’re in the London area on 24 February do come along. I don’t get paid (in fact I’ll have to pay my own travel expenses). Tickets cost about £15 and all the money goes to running the ERC. Next week, I’ll post details of where people can buy tickets.
I’ll be travelling and then in meetings over the next few days so will not be doing any new posts till Monday 27 January.
As for Global Warming. I don’t know what the weather’s like in the UK, but here in the Land of Smells it’s freezing compared to what it should be. Every morning now I see the Germans who live in this building all troop down to the swimming pool – eins zwei, eins zwei, eins zwei. Then, being terribly organised, they all take out special floating thermometers which they put in the water. After a minute or so, they take their thermometers out, look at them, shake their heads in disgust, grunt and then march back up to their flats – eins zwei, eins zwei, eins zwei. It’s quite funny to watch.
By David Craig, on January 22nd, 2014 It seems that nowadays, the world’s “scientists” are much more interested in getting newspaper headlines than they are in producing serious and useful scientific research. And to get headline, you need a really horrific scare story – a “we’re all about to die” story.
First we had the Warmists. As Australia experienced an “unusual” heatwave (the same heatwave the country has at this time every year), the Warmists were out in force claiming that this was even more proof of Global Warming. However, just across the Equator, East Asia (Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand) was having the coldest winter in living memory. There was even snow in Vietnam. One of the idiotic Warmists’ wildest predictions was “our children will not know what snow is“. But it seems that because of Global Cooling, many children, who didn’t know what snow was, are now finding out. Meanwhile the US skiing season started 10 days earlier than usual due to early heavy snowfall and then there was the infamous Polar Vortex which sent freezing brass-monkey weather across much of North America. But the Warmists have never let a few inconvenient facts get in the way of their ludicrous theories (click to see more clearly)

Then there was another bunch predicting that Britain’s run of rain-drenched summers could be ended by a slow-down in major Atlantic currents which bring warm, wet air to Europe. The currents were known to have weakened since 2004 but the new work suggests the trend began in the 1990s and shows no sign of ending.
Professor Rowan Sutton, at the University of Reading and part of the research team, said: “Those of us that spend our summer holidays in Britain would welcome a move away from a recent succession of soggy summers. But this research certainly isn’t a forecast for summer 2014, or any other year.” He said the changes to UK climate would be in addition to the longer-term global warming trend driven by carbon emissions, which is most likely to bring an increase in heatwaves and extreme storms. But hold on professor, 2013 was a wonderful sunny summer. It wasn’t wet and soggy at all. And the Earth hasn’t warmed at all for the last 16 years. Are you talking utter balderdash?
Then, perhaps more reliably, other “scientists” have been observing solar activity. They think the next low point in solar activity could be low enough to rival the Maunder Minimum, which often leads to the question of whether we could see a return to freezing conditions. Back in the 17th century, the sun went through a period of prolonged low activity, called the Maunder Minimum. This coincided with the beginning of what’s become known as the Little Ice Age when parts of the northern hemisphere cooled by as much as two degrees Celsius.
So, is it going to get hotter? Or cooler? Or stay the same? It seems that nobody has a clue.
Oh, and in case you ever wondered about the origins of the phrase “freeze the balls off a brass monkey”, here’s the answer, sort of: www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/cold%20enough%20to%20freeze%20the%20balls%20off%20a%20brass%20monkey.html
