Will ‘Professor’ Arday’s coming book be classed as a work of fiction (or fantasy)?

It appears that a book chronicling the life of Britain’s most famous Black Professor of the Sociology of Race and Education or Professor of Total Woke Nonsense or something like that, Prof Jason Arday, is due to be published on 27 August 2026:

The Guardian reported: ‘Jason Arday, the former Cambridge professor accused of plagiarism and embellishment, claimed he was paid “1.4 million” for his forthcoming memoir detailing his extraordinary backstory.” The publisher, Simon and Schuster (affectionately known by some in publishing as “Simon and Shyster”) ‘said earlier this week it was planning to go ahead with the publication of his memoir on 11 August in the US and 27 August in the UK. Simon & Schuster US told the Guardian on Thursday night it was “proceeding with the publication of Great and Unfortunate Things by Jason Arday as planned”.,

There are, of course, already glowing reviews on Amazon about a book which has not yet seen the light of day. Perhaps the reviewers got pre-publication copies? Or perhaps …….. (for legal reasons I will not speculate on what might really have been the role of the publisher’s PR department in the production of these glowing reviews and what amounts of money, if any, might have changed hands)

Recently there has been a continuous stream of revelations which suggest that the good professor’s account of his life may not be totally accurate. Questions are now being asked about issues such his claimed childhood autism, whether he hadn’t learned to speak until he was 11 and whether he couldn’t really read and write until he was 18, his extraordinary sporting achievements, the impressive amounts of money he supposedly raised for charity and much more.

So I was wondering whether the reviewers, who were so impressed by the good professor’s book might apologise, and whether one would find GREAT AND UNFORTUNATE THINGS in the non-fiction or fiction section or even under ‘Fantasy’ in your local Waterstones?
