Monday blog
In an article in yesterday’s Sunday Telegraph titled “Lammy: I warned Starmer about Mandelson”, we’re informed:
“Friends of the Deputy Prime Minister confirmed on Saturday night that he had not been in favour of bringing the “Prince of Darkness” back into government over his links to Jeffrey Epstein.”
“Mr Lammy is the first Cabinet minister to break openly with the embattled Prime Minister, whose future hangs in the balance over the Mandelson scandal.”
But hold on a minute. Here’s what Mr Lammy told us at the time of Mandelcsum’s appointment as ambassador to the US:
I am confused. I can only see four possible explanations for this apparent change of heart of Mr Lammy:
- maybe David Lammy has a twin brother, also called David Lammy, who is also Deputy Prime Minister and maybe the two David Lammy twins disagree about Mr Mandelscum’s suitability to be the UK ambassador
- maybe David Lammy is telling the truth now that he did really warn Starmer about the dangers of promoting Mandelscum, but Lammy then lied to us about Mandelscum’s suitability? This makes Lammy a liar, in my humble opinion.
- maybe Lammy never warned Starmer about the dangers of bringing Mandelscum back into public life and Lammy is lying to us if he now claims that he did warn Starmer? This makes Lammy a liar, in my humble opinion
- maybe Lammy never claimed to the Sunday Telegraph that he had warned Starmer about Mandelscum as the Sunday Telegraph has only quoted ‘friends of the Deputy Prime Minister’ and not the man himself. In this case, I hope that Mr Lammy contacts the Sunday Telegraph and gets them to correct the error as I’m sure Mr Lammy wouldn’t want us to be reading any disinformation about his good self.
Politics is such a complicated thing, isn’t it?
