Tuesday blog
Apparently 27 January was ‘Holocaust Memorial Day’.
Here’s how several BBC newsreaders reported it:
In all these reports, the BBC never mentions that 6 million Jews were murdered simply becaue they were Jewish. Instead of saying “6 million Jews were killed” the BBC tells us that “6 million people” were killed.
In fact, the 6 million were only the Jews. In addition, millions of gypsies, Poles, Russian prisoners, political opponents of the Nazis, homosexuals and other groups also perished in the German (sorry, I meant ‘Nazi’) extermination camps.
So, if the BBC wanted to use the word “people”, the BBC should have said something like “up to 10 million people were killed in Nazi death camps”. But by using the “6 million” figure and omitting to mention the 6 million were Jewish, the BBC is deliberately insulting Jewish victims of German (sorry, I meant ‘Nazi’) hatred.
It’s time to scrap the BBC. The BBC’s bias and antisemitism can never be fixed.
