Time to scrap our cowardly navy?

Just when you think our navy can’t get any worse, it does. First we find out that when taken prisoner for a few days by Iranians, our brave seamen started crying when their iPods were confiscated. Then we learn that the navy watched from a safe distance while the Chandlers were captured by Somali pirates. The navy cited health and safety rules for not intervening. Now we discover that when the navy did capture some pirates, they gave them meals, health checks, cigarettes and a lift home in safety. When the Russians caught some pirates, they killed them.

We have more admirals than ships. Half of the navy are useless bureaucrats, the other half are snivelling cowards. Surely it’s time to admit defeat, scrap the few ships we do have and fire the personnel. After all, they don’t defend our national interests, so why should we let them have so much of our money?
